Summary

This role is a unique blend of project management expertise leading engineering/design teams in transformational projects, continuous improvement (CI) leadership and best practice creation/deployment. You will leverage your technical background and project management skills to lead and manage complex projects to drive CI and to capture/improve/deploy processes for our global Design/Engineering teams.  Your focus will be on ensuring successful project delivery within budget, schedule, and quality constraints, all while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
 

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage and lead multiple high-visibility programs with complex technologies, organizational structures, and business impacts.
  • Develop and implement program plans, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and resource allocation.
  • Lead cross-functional, global core teams, kicking off programs, scheduling, and driving project objectives and project meetings.
  • Communicate program status effectively to business leaders, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Manage program budgets, forecasting actuals against plans/quotes for income/revenue, cost/labor & expense.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks and issues, implementing corrective measures.
  • Coordinate project interdependencies and optimize resource utilization across projects.
  • Align deliverables with program outcomes, collaborating with business change managers.
  • Manage key program documentation.
  • Develop and implement a CI strategy aligned with program objectives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to optimize performance, meet best practice standards, simplify and/or improve quality in our engineering teams, tools and processes globally.
  • Facilitate the adoption and measurement of the Systematic CI Framework Standards within the program.
  • Continuously assess and improve program strategy deployment and CI culture building.
  • Track and report on CI program metrics, demonstrating the impact of improvement initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay current on industry best practices in program/project management and CI, integrating new ideas into program execution.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects focused on problem-solving and eliminating waste.
     

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience


•    11 to 14 years of experience in engineering and/or program/project management.
•    Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
•    Proven track record of successfully leading and managing complex engineering programs or projects.
•    Demonstrated experience in implementing Process Improvement and CI methodologies within projects or programs.
•    Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile) and CI principles.
•    Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
•    Ability to influence and lead without direct authority.
•    Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
•    Technical skills relevant to the specific program/project domain (details will vary based on specific opening).

Additional Considerations:

  • Engineering experience in Design and or Test development is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Celestica's Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean) is a strong plus.
  • Travel up to 20% may be required.

Location: This is a remote position, with travel as necessary. We are open to considering candidates close to any of our US locations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, Oregon or California as well as locations near major airports such as the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and Pacific Coast.
