Summary

The Specialist, IT Infrastructure - Systems Administrator will install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the site's operating environment, ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance and security of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring and upkeeping the operating environments; responding to incidents & problems, planning for growth, deployment of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of PC/server operating systems, networks, and related utilities and hardware. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users, supporting Web access and telephony services, and the acquisition, replacement and decommissioning of related equipment, software and services.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Participates in the development of an effective server design and strategy
  • Provide technical support and perform maintenance
  • Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Provides technical guidance to customers and departmental staff on infrastructure environment issues
  • Perform service monitoring and reporting, with a focus on risk management and compliance
  • Explore new solutions, enhancements and opportunities for continuous improvement, projects and more
  • Provides infrastructure troubleshooting and effective solutions to problems while minimizing downtime.
  • Installing and configuring server infrastructure equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues
  • Monitoring server environments to improve infrastructure performance for computer systems and networks
  • Lead projects and change management initiatives
  • Manages external service providers

  • Good understanding of IT requirements for an end to end solution, including security, business continuity, disaster recovery, risk analysis and preparing business cases.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Windows OS (server and client) and the desktop operating environment. Linux and other mainstream OS knowledge will be helpful.
  • Deployment and administration of Microsoft 365 (M365) environments. Including Intune, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure.
  • Building and deploying file servers and cloud computing solutions (Azure); Windows Server 2019 experience and Hyper-V/VMware implementation experience a plus; understanding of Azure implementations – minimum of 5 years building/troubleshooting servers.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts
  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure service management & diagnostic tools and processes
  • Advanced knowledge of end-point security management tools and processes
  • Experience handling network security issues (viruses, malware, social engineering)
  • Understanding of IT Infrastructure asset lifecycle management
     

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

4 to 6 years of hands-on related experience. Experience in similar job roles.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Vendor Certifications preferred: CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+. MCSA or MCSE.
