Celestica designs and manufactures a wide variety of electronic systems. Some of these systems are sensitive “dual-use” and “military” technologies which are governed by the U.S Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR) or the U.S. Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

Positions involve the release of export controlled goods either directly to employees or through the employee’s movement within the facility. As such, you will need to provide the necessary information to confirm you are a “U.S. Person” per Part 8, United States Code, Sections 1324b(a)(3): U.S. Citizen, Lawful permanent resident (green card holder), and certain other narrow categories including some refugees and individuals granted asylum.

Summary

Work is guided by diverse procedures, processes and/or technical methods of varying complexity. Incumbents have some freedom to select best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are complex in nature where considerable judgement and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may have an impact beyond the jobs immediate work unit or team. Works under general Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert resource. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation in a problem solving capacity; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Repetitive to non-repetitive assembly and testing, disassembly, analysis, repair and rework, reassembly and test of aircraft components in support of FAA Repair Station.
  • Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and rework aircraft components in accordance with established procedures, and provide recommendations on steps need to return to service in accordance with FAA and other regulations.
  • Performs manual assembly / disassembly, operation of automated assembly equipment, hand soldering, operation of automated test equipment, and inspection and repair of products.
  • In addition will perform machine and line setups, feeder repairs and first line preventative maintenance.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of board assembly process and product process flow.
  • In-depth knowledge of product quality, soldering specifications and SMT processing systems.
  • Ability to set up, operate, calibrate and maintain assembly and hand soldering equipment and tools.
  • Ability to recognize problems in the assembly process or with assembly components and to address those problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and lead the team to high quality production within tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of in-circuit and functional test fixturing.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in some or all of the following applications: Word, Excel and Documentation control systems.
  • More advanced manufacturing systems knowledge

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye co-ordination, sitting and or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
  • Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects over.
  • Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
  • Above demands are carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines.

Typical Experience

  • Four to five years of relevant experience.

Typical Education

  • High school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience and a commitment towards further / additional education.
