Summary:

The Planner position at Celestica, Fremont, CA supports manufacturing by monitoring and managing inventories, sales, and production levels to plan for materials needed to meet production demand. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures materials are available to meet manufacturing build requirements.
  • Analyzes inputs (e.g., capacity, board cycle times, urgency of request, material availability, etc.) to help determine schedule.
  • Pushes or cancels Production orders per production plans.
  • Develop production plans to meet customer demand within production capacity.
  • Creates and releases WO in time to meet customer ships dates
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, review of existing and future production planning and budgetary planning preparations.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing work schedules
  • Participate in the daily production meetings for each responsible plant.
  • Review backlog to determine materials shortages and capacity requirements to provide dedications feedback Planning Manager
  • Coordinate the efficient expediting of materials and work in process with purchasing, production and engineering.
  • Plan production control activities to improve runtime while maintaining high quality, timely delivery and cost-effectiveness
  • Work with materials department in material planning and analysis to reduce inventory level
  • Plan, schedule and monitor material movement in production cycle to ensure continuous operations.
  • Track material shortages and provide immediate resolution.
  • Assist purchasing unit in coordinating and planning supplier deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory status and generate inventory reports to the management team
  • Generate reports on production shortages and revenue impact to the management team with analysis
  • Address customer queries and concerns in a timely fashion
  • Develop process improvement for inventory, manufacturing and production control systems
  • Evaluate production control activities to ensure that final product meets customer specifications
  • Plan equipment, material and manpower requirements to meet production schedule

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:           

  • Knowledge of a precision machining manufacturing environment, the types of materials being purchased by the department and the engineering change process.
  • Basic knowledge of production planning fundamentals, scheduling, materials requirements planning techniques and manufacturing control systems
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and multiple business applications.
  • Good negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to plan strategically for the coordinated delivery of a variety of materials.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

 

Experience:       

Two to four years’ relevant experience.

 

Education:         

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
