Summary
Perform all Molding Department operations. Operates both injection and transfer molding machines and performs soldering and secondary operations.
Performs moderately complex tasks and provides task leadership to a team responsible for the manufacture, assembly, repair or modification of products. Receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Tasks are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may cause a minor impact on the work unit operations or schedules. Works under general Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to expert resource. May demonstrate work methods to new employees. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in exchanges of factual information and provides some explanation; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, require exchanging factual information and providing some explanation.

Detailed Description
LEAD JOB DUTIES:
- Update daily tier 1 board with production results.
- Provide guidance to team and assist with trouble shooting production issues.
- Assist in training new team members.
- Assign jobs based on skill level of employee.
- Verify operators are following MAP, work instructions, completing first piece and in process inspections.
- Insure operators understand and are following all safety protocol and using proper PPE.
Operates molded equipment that has been set-up and made operative. This work requires knowledge of the procedures and techniques used in loading and operating injection and transfer molding machines. May need to make minor adjustments of press heat and pressure. May occasionally start-up presses; which include heating up and purging presses, turning on dryers, coolers, and filling hoppers with material as needed.
Work carefully and flawlessly to prevent damage to product, equipment and injury to self or others. Performs hand loading and automatic loading of contacts and inserts. May use solder pot to solder components, and perform secondary operations such as pin straightening and rework. Will be responsible for in-process inspections and work coming from each assigned work station.
Keep facilities, materials and work area clean and organized, exercising care in their use. Use safety practices and takes prompt action to correct problems. Assists co-workers when necessary to meet work unit goals. Actively seeks continuous process improvement. May be required to train other employees and assist in orientation of new employees. Performs other duties as required and may be used in other areas and departments of manufacturing as workload dictate.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
- General knowledge of product process flow.
- Knowledge of product quality and soldering specifications and quality improvement processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing information systems.
- Ability to recognize problems in the assembly process or with assembly components and to address those problems.
- Ability to learn established quality and quantity requirements. Ability to manually assemble components and produce high quality products in defined time periods.
- Ability to work effectively with team members and lead the team to high quality production within tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of electrical, electromechanical and pneumatic systems and principals of operation.
- Ability to analyze equipment and systems, make appropriate adjustments within area of defined job scope or highlight highlight/communicate problems to Team Leader.
- Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn and use applications specific to this area
- Ability to maintain detailed, accurate and organized records.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers.
- Basic manufacturing system knowledge.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
- Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
- Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects
- Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
- Above demands are carried out within the Company and statutory Health and Safety guidelines
Typical Experience
- Three to five years relevant experience preferred.
Typical Education
- High school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
