About this opportunity:

Performs duties in line with specific area of study. Incumbent is attending a formal University or College Internship program from a recognized University or College.

 

Detailed Description:

  • Enrolled in a formal University or college Internship program.
  • Work is guided by detailed instructions, routines, and procedures. Works under close supervision and receives detailed instructions on all work assignments. May work autonomously once proficiency in the tasks is achieved. May be given more complex duties as proficiency is gained. Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members with guidance.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office with exposure to manufacturing environments.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc).
  • Basic manufacturing system knowledge.

 

Activities:

  • Maintain responsibility for planning particular top-level assemblies.
  • Ensures materials are available to meet manufacturing build requirements and works with buying on gaps
  • Releases production orders to the factory in line with the Master Schedule and reviews and analyses material shortages
  • Executes weekly MPS/MRP inputs based on customer orders, verify input and output and review actions generated ensuring quality of input
  • Work is guided by detailed instructions, routines, and procedures. Works under close supervision and receives detailed instructions on all work assignments. May work autonomously once proficiency in the tasks is achieved. May be given more complex duties as proficiency is gained
  • Deals directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members with guidance
  • This position is an excellent and challenging position for students who are interested in gaining procurement, business and manufacturing knowledge
     

Other Activities

  • Reviews manufacturing production goals and plans accordingly
  • Analyzes inputs including capacity, cycle times, urgency of request, and material availability to help determine schedule
  • Participates in improvement projects
  • Participates in Annual Physical Inventory and assists in reviewing raw material and WIP varaiances
