Job Overview:
The ATS Operations Engineering Director will partner with the Vice Presidents of Operations, Site GMs and Site Engineering leads to develop and execute on the company's strategy to expand into all aspects of manufacturing solutions, equipment, process and test applications, within our Diversified Markets customers and products. In parallel, ensuring that Celestica’ reputation for high quality and delivery are maintained.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Frequent interaction with our Manufacturing site GMs and  Eng leaders to understand the customer  product designs and product life cycle requirements and  technology roadmaps with existing customers
  • Work collaboratively with our internal design teams to make sure we have the necessary skills to be successful and the appropriate procedures to manage our business within Manufacturing Operations
  • Build customer and cross-functional relationships where persuasive skills, negotiation skills, and considerable tact are required to gain support.
  • Support the sales and site teams with new RFQ’s and new customer visits as needed. Close capability gaps with the manufacturing sites
  • Create and manage processes that engage the sales and business development organizations to forecast new Operations technology requirements and provide cost/risk recommendations to senior leaders as part of the Strategic Planning Process (SPP)
  • Lead the sourcing and delivery of Subject Matter Expertise for new Manufacturing Technologies required to assemble and test our customer’s products.
  • 50% Travel is expected to our Manufacturing sites and customer locations as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent (M.Sc degree is desirable)
  • Minimum 10 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in Process and/or Test.
  • Functional knowledge of Qualification and Failure analysis lab techniques for the purpose of validating Manufacturing Processes and for Product failure analysis
  • Strong background in defining, implementing and continuously improving KPIs in a manufacturing setting through the total process flow.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving using analytical techniques
  • Background in evaluating and qualifying key strategic engineering service suppliers/partners and establishing service support relationships to quickly solve gaps in CLS Manufacturing readiness to meet customer needs.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience building & leading integrated teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with cross-functional teams and leading through both direct management and influence.
  • Strong knowledge of various regulatory environments and impacts on Manufacturing qualifications, safety and certifications including HealthTech, Automotive and Industrial/Energy markets
  • Experience with phase gated processes for product development and Manufacturing release and change management.
  • Ability to effectively organize, manage and motivate members from a wide variety of departments and geographies with a diverse group of skill sets, and lead a team of direct reports in a matrixed environment

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • MBA highly desirable
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies
  • Knowledge of materials, Supply Chain and components used in the manufacturing of electro mechanical systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • Some level of fluency in financial costing / pricing required as well as an in-depth knowledge of contracts and associated quoting processes
  • Written and presentation communication skills
  • Fluency in English is a must both written and oral
  • Other languages (e.g. Spanish, Chinese, Thai) are advantageous
  • Customer contact experience desired

Location: This is a remote position, with travel as necessary. We are open to considering candidates close to any of our US locations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, Oregon or California as well as locations near major airports such as the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and Pacific Coast.
