Summary

The Head of Hardware Platform Solutions (HPS) IT Solutions & Technology Delivery’s role is to provide senior, visionary IT leadership operating at the intersection of an advanced engineering technology director and a highly strategic IT Business Partner. The central objective of this role is to design, plan, monitor, and improve specialized IT capabilities tailored specifically to the high-performance engineering organization. Rather than acting reactively or being dragged along by development timelines, this leader ensures the HPS IT function remains "in front"—setting the technical vision, anticipating shifts in the networking and storage industries, and introducing cutting-edge, value-added capabilities.

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and overseeing a dedicated global team of 20–30 HPS IT members, this individual will lay down an agile technical environment that enables the global engineering teams to execute at maximum velocity. To succeed, this leader must balance deep hands-on software engineering insight and advanced networking architecture skills with a highly collaborative approach—partnering closely with the global IT organization to qualify new HPS initiatives, leverage enterprise systems, and ensure corporate alignment.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the HPS business as a member of the senior IT management team, reporting directly to the CIO.
  • Act as the forward-looking visionary for HPS' IT needs, anticipating disruptive changes in the networking, storage, and software industries to capture competitive advantages ahead of business demand.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning to embed value-added technical capabilities across global Design Centers, ensuring infrastructure plans are proactively established to prevent engineering bottlenecks.
  • Partner closely with the global IT Business Partnership and Project Management teams to co-develop frameworks that successfully qualify, prioritize, and ingest new business initiatives into the pipeline.
  • Formulate and execute a progressive endpoint technology framework that bridges corporate compliance with fluid developer productivity across Windows and native Linux platforms.
  • Establish foundational, next-generation network architecture models for highly complex Research & Development Labs (RDL), securing segmented customer networks and remote access pathways.
  • Architect the IT enablement and governance strategy for applied AI engineering initiatives, pioneering secure cloud environments and automated compliance sandboxes.
  • Develop and maintain the organizational structure of the dedicated 20–30 member HPS IT support team, overseeing headcount allocations, career development, and operational maturity.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Partner with business unit leaders, principal engineering architects, and development leads to translate complex software and hardware workflows into technical infrastructure requirements.
  • Collaborate with the global Enterprise Applications team to align, optimize, and steer the engineering technology portfolio, including SaaS application suites, modern DevOps toolchains, and the ongoing Salesforce CRM product-company transformation roadmap.
  • Review and approve specialized software and infrastructure acquisitions, ensuring new storage and networking technologies are thoroughly vetted for high-throughput engineering scales.
  • Evaluate and deploy advanced platform capabilities—such as automated, cloud-hosted developer VMs, sandbox architectures, and integrated developer environments (IDEs).
  • Oversee facility build-outs, greenfield network expansions, and specialized lab engineering provisions across distributed technical hubs.

Operational Management

  • Direct and lead a global, multi-disciplinary team of 20–30 IT professionals and engineering specialists, fostering an agile, forward-thinking, and high-performance team culture.
  • Ensure responsiveness and high-availability continuous delivery of specialized IT capabilities to worldwide engineering cohorts.
  • Partner with the global IT Security team to orchestrate secure software chains of custody through robust code-signing infrastructures, automated digital certificate distributions, and hardware security modules extending safely to manufacturing floors.
  • Align specialized lab access controls with global IT Security standards, supervising the end-to-end management of complex network segmentations, dedicated hardware layers, and secure remote customer access tunnels to guarantee complete RDL isolation.
  • Triage, adjust, and optimize endpoint application security controls (such as default-deny policies) to protect corporate intellectual property while ensuring a friction-free developer experience.
  • Monitor service metrics, resolve infrastructure bottlenecks, and continually adapt IT systems to support rapid software development lifecycles and continuous product deployment schedules.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience managing and directing specialized enterprise IT operations, infrastructure architecture, or software engineering infrastructure teams in a global capacity.

  • Proven track record serving as a senior technical IT Business Partner or technology delivery lead, with a demonstrated ability to set architectural visions and build systems that allow technical teams to execute rapidly.

  • Strong, forward-looking knowledge of the networking and storage industries, including high-throughput storage architectures, software-defined networking (SDN), firewall topologies, and zero-trust remote access models.

  • Deep technical expertise in software engineering paradigms, automated continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and modern developer workflows.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with global corporate IT functions—specifically IT Security, Enterprise Applications, PMO, and Business Relationship Management—to qualify and deliver large-scale initiatives.

  • Comprehensive understanding of cross-platform endpoint engineering, including automated configuration management and MDM/UEM frameworks (e.g., Jamf Pro) for macOS, Linux baseline configurations, and Windows environments.

  • Direct experience managing or partnering with hardware and software engineering labs utilizing specialized product development suites (PLM, CAD, and advanced compilation environments).

  • Strong working knowledge of corporate governance, software supply chain security, and international export control frameworks (such as dual-use technical restrictions) governing clean rooms and isolated labs.

Personal Attributes

  • Exceptional visionary leadership and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to manage, inspire, and scale a global team of 20–30 technical professionals.
  • Strong diplomatic and matrix-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish collaborative, trust-based partnerships with global IT counterparts.

  • Superb written, oral, and presentation skills, with a distinct talent for translating future-state architectural concepts into business-friendly and developer-friendly language.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and highly resilient; a leader who thrives on pushing boundaries and keeping IT in front of business requirements rather than operating reactively.

  • Advanced analytical, risk-assessment, and strategic problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to prioritize massive project portfolios, negotiate competing resource demands, and execute flawless mitigation strategies in fast-paced product environments.

  • Strong developer-centric service orientation, intensely focused on accelerating engineer velocity and eliminating operational downtime.

  • Keen attention to detail concerning global network configurations, secure infrastructure models, and technical compliance boundaries.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • 15+ years IT experience with a proven track record of interacting with diverse manufacturing, SCM and customer focused teams

Typical Education

  • University degree in the field of computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or business administration. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography
