General Overview

Summary

The Staff Engineer, System Integration Test Engineer, works with cross functional teams of design engineers, customers, supply chain and project managers to rigorously test and validate rack-level, system solutions and ensure new product release readiness. This position will own the test system setup and function for complex, high-end servers and hyperscale compute & network racks, including applications and operating systems. The ideal candidate will have a rack-level, system integration test background in storage/server, GPU and networking products. Develop and provide guidance on Celestica Storage/GPU/network system integration and verification plans, test cases and test coverage, such as: element function test, hardware integration test, system and rack integration verification. 

 

Detailed Description

  • Lead the end-to-end validation, integration, and qualification of advanced AI compute racks. Ensure seamless compatibility, performance, security, and resilience across hardware and software elements.
  • Perform hands-on lab racking and stacking of complex, high-touch configurations. Meticulously integrate servers, accelerators, switches, Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs), and high-power shelves.
  • Configure smart Power Distribution Units (PDUs) to optimize rack-level power delivery. Oversee real-time monitoring, control, and automation of critical rack components.
  • Develop and automate system integration test plans to reduce development time and errors. Leverage AI tools to streamline the planning, execution, and analysis of test cycles.
  • Rigorously test applications and operating systems, debugging complex hardware, network, software, and firmware issues.
  • Create and maintain thorough documentation for installation procedures, test plans, performance metrics, and compliance results.
  • Mentor engineering peers and collaborate across cross-functional teams (design engineers, program managers, vendors, and customers) to deliver cutting-edge rack solutions.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • 4+ years (mandatory) of hands-on experience in rack-level system integration, with a deep understanding of AI compute rack configurations and component functionality.
  • Strong knowledge of x86 architecture, system/firmware integration, and Linux environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, PCI protocol analyzers, and traffic generators (Keysight/Ixia, Spirent).
  • Extensive experience with stress testing utilities (stressapp, stress-ng, iperf3, FIO, memtester).
  • Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, Perl, VBA, Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs. Experience with CI/CD and tracking tools (Jenkins, JIRA) and integrating AI test automation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous projects, accurately forecast workloads, and execute deliverables on schedule in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • 7 to 10 years of related experience

Typical Education

BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science.
