Summary
The Facilities Supervisor provides comprehensive oversight of corporate properties, blending workplace design with day-to-day operations. This role ensures office layouts are optimized, interior sanitation is flawless, exterior grounds are pristine, and employee amenities are fully operational. You will direct space planning projects, manage specialized vendors, oversee multi-disciplinary maintenance teams, and control operational budgets.

Space Utilization: Analyze employee headcount, team adjacencies, and workflow requirements to optimize current office layouts and seating arrangements.

Furniture & Ergonomics: Manage the specification, procurement, and installation of office furniture and ergonomic equipment.

Strategic Forecasting: Develop and maintain CAD or space-planning software layouts to forecast future space needs and departmental growth.
Detailed Description
Janitorial Services Management

Team Leadership: Key liaison for a 3rd party team of janitorial and custodial staff.

Quality Control: Conduct routine facility walkthroughs and audits to ensure cleaning standards and health codes are met.

Supply Chain Oversight: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, and safety equipment, ordering replacements as needed.

Specialty Contracts: Coordinate deep-cleaning schedules (carpet extraction, window washing) with internal teams or third-party providers.
Buildings & Grounds Maintenance

Exterior Upkeep: Coordinate landscaping, lawn care, tree maintenance, parking lot upkeep, and structural exterior cleaning.

Seasonal Operations: Manage snow removal, ice mitigation, and storm cleanup to ensure safe vehicle and pedestrian access.

Structural Maintenance: Supervise routine repairs for roofing, masonry, walkways, exterior lighting, and fencing.
Vending & Amenity Service Management

Vendor Procurement: Manage contracts for snack, beverage, micro-market, and specialty coffee vending services.

Inventory & Quality: Audit machine stock levels, product freshness, and rotational diversity to meet employee preferences.

Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate rapid repairs for broken machines and point-of-sale systems to minimize downtime.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of facilities management and operations.
- Understanding of environmental, health and safety regulations, programs (local and government), including ISO 14001 requirements.
- Good organization and project management skills.
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
- Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Typical Experience
- Two to Four years of experience in managing contractors, space management, and/or facilities management.
Typical Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
