Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Administrator/Network Engineer to lead the migration of our existing Cisco networking switches to Celestica designed networking switches running the open source SONiC networking operating system. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of networking principles, switch configuration, and open source network operating systems.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Design and implement the migration strategy for migrating existing Cisco switches to HPS SONiC

  • Plan the physical replacement of switches and configuration of SONiC operating system in partnership with local Site IT Services at the Celestica locations where Cisco switches are being replaced.

  • Configure and optimize Spine and Leaf architecture - VXLAN MP-BGP EVPN

  • Configure underlay and overlay routing protocols to communicate across regionally separated Data centers. 

  • Build templates on the orchestrator for automating the deployment of Spine and Leaf appliances. 

  • Configure and optimize SONiC networking features such as Layer 2/3 switching, routing, VLANs, and security policies

  • Integrate SONiC switches with existing network infrastructure and applications

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and ensure seamless transition to SONiC

  • Document and share knowledge on SONiC operating system, migration process, and best practices

  • Collaborate with the network engineering team to develop and maintain network architecture

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies related to open source networking

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Expertise in Cisco networking switches, including Catalyst and Nexus platforms

    • Expertise on Dell switches and other vendors appliances such as HP, Aruba and Ruckus

    • Proficiency in the SONiC networking operating system

    • Excellent knowledge and proficiency in Data center technology and architecture. 

    • Strong understanding of routing protocols such as ISIS, OSPF and BGP and network security

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of core experience in campus and data center network implementation and administration or engineering

    • Experience with managing large-scale enterprise networks

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Strong communication and presentation abilities

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Continuous learning and staying up-to-date with industry advancements

  • Certification:

    • CCIE or CCNP level certification ( Good to have ); But skill set is essential. 

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • Network Administrator with responsibility for Cisco networking devices

  • Network Administrator with responsibility for Dell, HP, Aruba, Ruckus, Broadcom networking devices

  • Network Engineer with experience in open source networking solutions

  • Systems Engineer with a focus on network infrastructure

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
