Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in the development, manufacturing, and support of semiconductor capital equipment. This role requires a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering with expertise in semiconductor process tools such as deposition, etch, lithography, or metrology equipment. The ideal candidate will drive innovation, product development, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring high-performance execution and quality standards.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers in the design, development, and validation of semiconductor capital equipment.
- Oversee new product development (NPD) / NPI, sustaining engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (SEMI, CE, UL, ISO) and best practices in design and manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, supply chain, and customer support, to drive product success.
- Define and manage engineering roadmaps, budgets, and project timelines.
- Provide technical leadership in areas such as vacuum systems, robotics, automation, motion control, and process integration.
- Work closely with customers and field teams to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent to build a high-performing team.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor capital equipment design, development, and manufacturing.
- Experience with vacuum systems, robotics, automation, and high-precision motion control.
- Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Expertise in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), FEA, CFD, and simulation tools.
- Understanding of firmware, PLCs, embedded systems, and control software.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in plasma processing, deposition, etch, lithography, or metrology equipment.
- Knowledge of IoT, AI/ML applications, and Industry 4.0 in semiconductor manufacturing.
- Experience working with global engineering teams and suppliers.
