Summary

This leadership position is a dedicated strategic role, singularly focused on executing high-priority special projects and managing the critical procurement requirements for the organization’s growth in the Asia region. The Director is directly responsible for leading all mandated strategic initiatives and managing a specialized team of four dedicated to providing end-to-end procurement support for new builds, site expansions, and capital projects. This role requires navigating the risk, complexity, and ambiguity inherent in large-scale strategic initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to regional governance while driving an innovative and aggressive project supply chain to maximize value and minimize risk for business expansion.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Represents Indirect function/dept internally and externally on special projects, to senior leadership/executive team, communicating the Asia region including country/site results the department generates for Celestica. One key activity is to present results and initiatives to leadership including but not limited to during CPRs, site GM or VP Ops' meetings.

  • Ensures the supplier's ecosystem supplying Asia sites incl. subcontractors are being considered and analyzed, to limit or eliminate financial exposure (incl. reputation, non sanctioned, illegal, etc.) resulting from increasingly stronger risk management development and implementation.

  • Coaches and mentors a team of indirect professionals, ranging in levels of seniority, across all countries in Asia, including multi-category country leads who will be overseen all 11 categories (regionally and globally managed categories) in scope to Ivalua and out of Ivalua scope indirect activities in pursuing best practices and in developing/refining core hard and soft skills required for their work including but not limited to negotiation, strategizing, people management, discovering and enabling opportunities meeting the objectives of the department, etc.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Skills in negotiating and yielding significant and/or constant cost decrease and benefit increase for the region of Asia amidst difficult, complex, disadvantageous and conflictual conditions.

  • Ability to develop and deploy strategies for the Asia region in conditions that are not ideal or welcoming change

  • Strong negotiation skills (used internally and externally) to persist and offer unwaivered focus to the cause(s) / objective(s) targeted

  • Solid interpersonal skills to persuade internal and external parties to cooperate or move towards a targeted goal related to the regional scope Director is responsible for despite misalignment(s), complexity, ambiguity

  • Effective and clear communication skills to remain clear and to the point in order to gain the targeted results

  • Good financial acumen, above average considered an asset

  • Ethical and strong observational skills to plan and prepare for situations requiring creativity and conviction

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in indirect (or experience considered equivalent) and people management

  • Experience in wide variety of spend categories such as but not limited to Facilities, Utilities and project management

  • Experience leading regional, large and complex projects in matrix-like organization related to or encompassing any or all of the multi functions included in procurement process such as but not limited to sourcing, contracting, supplier management and/or purchasing orgs 

  • Experience in people management

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Commerce, Engineering), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
