Summary

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for creating and driving a quality culture at AbelConn Electronics, through active participation in and management of quality engineering, inspection activities, and continuous improvement to assure that all products and services provided by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

Detailed Description

JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for hiring, leading, mentoring, and developing Quality Assurance personnel to support the strategic vision of the AbelConn Quality Organization
  • Develop and Implement a scalable Quality Organization capable of supporting our rapid growth strategy
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of the positions needed to support the organization's strategic vision
  • Create the appropriate systems and methods to support the organization's strategic vision
  • Create the culture necessary to support the organization's strategic vision
  • Through active, hands-on leadership, assures Product delivered to customers meets quality expectations
  • Leads efforts to prevent quality problems on new products by working with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Production. Develops quality plans for new products using APQP or other methodologies
  • Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required
  • Gives priority attention to containment and resolution of product defects identified by AbelConn customers, especially those from customer product returns
  • Coordinates and approves all sample submissions of new products and engineering changes. Verifies process changes are effective in improving quality, delivery, and cost goals
  • Assures Quality management plans are implemented into manufacturing operations
  • Analyzes technical and QA system problems for existing products. Leads military-specification product qualification efforts as assigned
  • Prepares and/or directs the preparation of first article reports in accordance with documented work instructions
  • Takes an active leadership role in the implementation of Continuous Improvement
  • Work to close CARs in a timely manner verifying that the issue has been solved and does not recur
  • Drives timely problem containment, root cause and corrective actions for affectivity
  • identifies and implements solutions and opportunities for improvement in production and business process
  • Consults with staff to recommend, develop, and implement statistical methods in engineering and production, including statistical process control techniques and experimental design methods
  • Leads and provides support and in assuring the Quality Management System meets the requirements of our customers and industry driven standards. (AS 9100, ISO 13485, IPC-610, J-Std, NADCAP and NASA)
  • Assist and support the management and execution of internal and external auditing processes
  • Acts as ISO Management Representative in maintaining ISO 9001 and AS 9100 status and qualifications
  • Work with the Quality Engineers and Technicians to train, mentor and ensure compliance with the established quality processes while ensuring continual improvements in Quality Engineering processes
  • Manages calibration scheduling, reporting, outsourcing, calibration certificate records, and database
  • Documentation: Writes and revises QA documentation to reflect customer requirements, internal standards, and state-of-the-art quality practices
  • Supplier interface: Evaluates supplier performance and dispositions incoming product as necessary to support production. Coordinates requests for corrective action when necessary
  • May participate in Industry Trade Organizations
  • Prepares all necessary reports as required by customers and staff personnel
  • Travels as situations arise pertaining to the job
  • With management, will develop, implement and maintain metrics relating to the performance of the Quality Engineering department

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field
  • Experience in electronic contract manufacturing for Military, Aerospace, Medical/Health Tech and/or other highly regulated industry
  • 7-10 years minimum experience in a Quality Management role including Quality Systems and Continuous Improvement.
  • High aptitude in Statistics and Statistical Analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to redefine the Quality organization and shift the culture to support it
  • Visual exams are required pre-hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 with or without glasses along with passing a standard color vision exam
  • Working knowledge of AS 9100, NADCAP, Mil Specs and ISO 13485
  • Must demonstrate a high aptitude in oral and written communications

 

AbelConn Electronics is ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS 9100 registered, Nadcap Accredited, NASA-STD-8739 and all job duties are to be performed to support the business in meeting all requirements and documented instructions.

 

Positions with AbelConn involve the release of export controlled goods either directly to employees or through the employee's movement within the facility. As such, AbelConn will require necessary information from all applicant's acceptance of employment to determine if any export control exemptions or licenses mush be filed.
