Summary
The ideal candidate for the Test Development Engineering position is someone who enjoys working on the intersection of hardware and software, and is driven by complex problem solving in a fast paced environment. The position involves developing Functional and System level test solutions for a variety of electronics, including products involving Radio Frequency technology. The team supports a number of exciting product applications, most often found within Celestica’s Aerospace & Defense, and Health-Tech market segments. The role is based in Maple Grove MN, and includes working closely with the onsite design and development engineering team, as well as interfacing with a global network of engineering resources.
Work is project based with individual contribution in a structured team environment. The role is within a team of experienced development engineers and technicians, working in a dedicated development lab environment, and delivering solutions into Celestica manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to drive development activities forward while contributing to team and project-based objectives, and supporting the launch of test solutions into a high-paced manufacturing environment.
Detailed Description
Activities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Develop production test strategies based on product design specifications
- Design and develop test solutions including both hardware and software elements, with a focus on leading the software development portion
- Involvement in all areas of the development process, including test planning, software development, hardware development, system integration, qualification, and installation support for manufacturing
- Test process optimization, with a focus on productivity improvements to cycle time and yield
- Integrate tools and code developed by other internal groups or external customers
- Debug issues using design of experiments, tools, and failure analysis methodologies
- Collaborate with a highly experienced engineering team to review and provide input on development designs
- Interface expertly with external customers and internal stakeholders
- Occasional travel and global site support may be required
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Knowledge and understanding of systems and printed circuit board manufacturing processes and equipment
- Knowledge of industry and quality standards
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot product problems
- Knowledge of testing software, processes and methodologies and failure analysis
- Minimum 1-2 years of software development, preferably with National Instruments LabView
- Minimum 3-5 years of engineering development and manufacturing operations support (preferred, not mandatory)
- Some operations background (electronics manufacturing experience preferred, not mandatory)
- Software design, development, debug and release
- Some Hardware development, integration and qualification (preferred, not mandatory)
- Project leadership and managing multiple projects
- Good organization skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers
- Instrumentation automation, driver development (preferred, not mandatory)
- Development in Aerospace & Defense and/or Healthcare industry would be an asset (not mandatory)
- Some programming experience with other languages is considered a bonus (Python, C++, C# and .NET, etc.)
Physical Demands
- Lab work including assembling test equipment, racks of instruments, running cables, wiring and pcb assembly
- Normal office and laboratory environments with exposure to manufacturing environments
- May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
- Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
- Travel up to 25%
Salary
The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.
The range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.
Salary Range: $75,000-99,000 annually
