Summary

Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary role that works with cross functional teams of other engineers, customers, supply chain and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.  In this customer-facing position you will work with a wide range of medical device customers to bring new therapies and devices from early concept to the market to improve lives all around the globe.  The primary role of the Systems Engineer at Celestica is to act as a Technical Leader on development programs, leading all aspects of the technical execution of projects, assuming responsibility for technical project deliverables and working with project managers to assure successful project outcomes. 

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Global SME with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition. Provides technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
  • Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
  • Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.
  • Lead the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinate global deployment efforts.
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Research systems ideas and draw up plans for these systems
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. Architecture of solution: Divide up tasks for various engineering teams to execute taking into consideration requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, testing and evaluation, maintainability and many other disciplines necessary for successful system design and field support.
  • Test, simulate and measure (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Solve complex problems
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information
  • Recommend system modifications
  • Create reports and documentation

  • System Architecture: Envision create the overall architecture strategy for a project including: Sensor/Moving Parts, Electrical, Mechanical, Robotic Programming, PLC Programming, Machine Vision
  • System Requirements and Documentation: System/subsystem requirements, interface design, integration planning and analysis, risk management documentation (Hazard Analysis, DFMEA, UFMEA etc.) verification planning and reports.
  • Prototyping: Mechanical, electrical, software, form, fit, and function prototyping in support of demos, early engineering builds, lab or animal studies through clinical.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Knowledgeable in industry standards and regulations to guide the technical team and customer to a successful documentation strategy.
  • Robotics/Automation: Test Plan Creation, FT Diagnostic & Firmware Development, FT Equipment Skills, FT Debug/Integration of SW/HW, System Architecture, Firmware, OFT-Physical Test, OFT-Electrical Test
  • Design Analysis (DFX): Test Strategy Creation, System Architecture, Tolerance Analysis, DFS-Sourcing/BOM Risk, DFR-Reliability, HALT/Testing. Temperature/Humidity/Bias Testing. Thermal Shock Testing, Accelerated Thermal Cycling.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
