Summary
Incumbents may determine best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are very complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the departments goals and may go beyond the department. Works under minimum Supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to manager or expert resource. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May be considered the expert in areas assigned. Builds internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing some explanations in a problem solving capacity.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for the operation of the shop floor control system and the data integrity with other systems.
- Creates and maintains process flows/ incorporates process controls for the shop floor control system (ie DACS or GRForce) for a specific Customer or set of Customers.
- Acts a Customer competency focal point as it relates to process flow, process controls and related issues.
- Works with Customer and internal Celestica staff to resolve customer issues and achieve customer objectives.
- Identifies and resolves variances between the shop floor control and ERP systems.
- Works with cycle count teams to understand source of errors.
- Creates and determines the technical structure of routings to achieve the desired objectives.
- Maintains process flows/ routings for process changes, engineering changes, reworks and quality controls.
- Works with Customer Data Management and other SCM teams to support process redesign.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Good knowledge of SCM and manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of shop floor control and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of key measurements related to process control.
- Understands inventory control and data integrity as it relates to this job.
- Strong knowledge of IT tools, capabilities and systems.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Good analytical skills to perform root cause analysis, interpret data, and resolve issues.
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and problem solve a variety of task to ensure timely completion.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
- Duties of this position require occasional sustained concentration to focus on small areas, objects, computers, etc.
- Duties of this position require occasional light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space, climbing, using equipment, handling lightweight materials, etc.
- Duties of this position require occasional heavy manual effort and considerable exertion including lifting objects over 20 pounds, requiring straining, pulling and lifting.
Typical Experience
- Two to Four years relevant experience.
Typical Education
- Two or three year general technical college diploma/degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
