Summary
Lead, guide, and coach a team of skilled inspectors to produce First Article Inspection Reports for electronic assemblies that will be used in aerospace applications.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Plan with his/her reporting manager the working shift/hours and overtime schedule of employees under his/her assigned area.

Provides direct supervision and training to employees performing routine work.
- Ensure product compliance to customer requirements
- Compile First Article Inspection reports for various customers
- Participate in resolving customer, supplier, and internal quality issues promptly and efficiently
- Participate in regular internal quality review meetings

Handle all FAI excursions, take effective actions and follow proper escalation

Support and follow up the product & material quality from NPI (New Product Introduction) to mass production (FAI (First Article Inspection))

Analyze, monitor and report quality KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for internal (factory) and external (customer)

Drive continuous improvement to benefit customer, Celestica and supplier

Draft internal quality system procedures, and work instructions

Assist process/product/system/supplier audit and improvement actions follow up. - Industry standards (e.g., ISO - International Organization for Standardization) - Compliance audit - Safety audit etc.

Enhance the quality skills and product knowledge through the training program.

Accomplish the jobs assignment from the superior and participate in the quality strategy deployment.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
-
Knowledge of the product quality requirements (IPC-A-610, workmanship, cosmetic spec.) and the tools and equipment used in the electronics manufacturing inspection process.

Knowledge of sampling plan procedure (Acceptance Quality Limit - AQL).
-
Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
-
Knowledge of ISO Standards and general company's rules / procedures.

Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate employees.

Ability to communicate and coordinate with various functions.
- Engineering principles and knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of software as used in generating reports capturing data & presenting data in an understandable format (e.g, Net-Inspect / DISCUS software)

Knowledge of quality tools such as PFMEA, SPC, 8D methodology, etc.

Understand Six Sigma and Lean Kaizen.

Knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how decisions impact customer satisfaction product quality ,on-time delivery and profitability of the unit

Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers

Understand new customer product launch requirements

Ability to review engineering drawings, specifications and Purchase Orders to identify FAI requirements
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office with exposure to manufacturing environments.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
- Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, etc).
- Basic manufacturing system knowledge.
Typical Experience
-
A minimum of 2 years of Quality Engineering experience.
Typical Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
