Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for Quality Planning/Prevention, Corrective Action, and Continual Improvement. The Quality Engineer will maintain a continuous flow of high-quality products to our customers.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Review customer drawings and specifications, and develop internal processes to meet the customer's needs
- Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement effective actions on time
- Oversee the product & material quality from new product introduction (NPI) to mass production
- Develop the quality control plan for each customer account
- Monitor and improve Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for internal (factory) and external (customer) quality performance
- Drive continuous improvement to benefit the customer and Celestica
- Develop and maintain the quality management system, procedures, work instructions and workmanship standards
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of quality tools, and quality management systems including ISO 9001
- Experience analyzing data to gain knowledge of processes, and present information in a clear and understandable format
- Experience using structured methods of investigating and solving problems (such as 8D, Six Sigma)
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear instructions
Prefered skills and knowledge (not essential):
- Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes (surface-mount assembly, through-hole assembly)
- Knowledge and understanding of FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Lean Six Sigma
- Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
- Experience with RF (Radio Frequency) testing
- Familiarity with electronic assembly standards (IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001).
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment, and in a light manufacturing factory environment
- Duties may require repetitive manual movements (e.g., keyboarding), carrying, pushing or pulling light objects, (under 5 kg.), crouching, climbing
- Sustained visual concentration on small areas, such as monitors, screens, precise eye/hand coordination, sustained visual concentration on numbers and text
- Must pass a Snellen 20/20 vision test with at least one eye (corrective lenses permitted), to assess product conformance
Salary
The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.
The range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.
Salary range $90,000-$124,000 CAD/year.
Typical Experience
- 3 to 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
