Summary
The Celestica Newmarket Microelectronics Assembly Lab (MEL) Operator/Technician will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment with opportunities to develop new skills while working in a highly motivated team. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a manufacturing environment. We are looking for a team player who is able to learn quickly, is self-motivated, has excellent analytical and communication abilities and is comfortable performing repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment while fully suited up in a clean room. The candidate will be part of the Microelectronics Assembly Lab team.
Incumbents have some latitude in determining the best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are broad and complex in nature where considerable independent judgment and discretion are required. Strong initiative is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions will have an impact on the department's goals.
Assignments are received in the form of results expected. Possesses broad knowledge of operations and policies. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work and/or provide project or task leadership. May be considered the expert in areas assigned. Builds strong internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing explanations in a problem-solving capacity. Interfaces regularly with persons of higher positions.
Position involves working with product specifications, mechanical drawings; the operator/technician assembles, inspects, tests, debugs, repairs and/or modifies microelectronic products. These operations are unique within Celestica and a tour of the Microelectronics Lab can be provided upon request before or after the interview.
Good problem identification and troubleshooting skills required. Ability to use hand and power tools required for test assembly. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers. Duties of the position require periodic physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials. Typical Experience: Two to four years’ relevant experience.
The Microelectronics Lab technician job duties include:
- Operation of equipment for internal process development and customer requirements (wire bonder, die bonder, functional testers, warpage inspection microscope, glue and epoxy dispensers, optical microscopes, thermal ovens, and other assembly equipment)

Documentation of processes and procedures

Attendance and discussion at weekly department meetings

Analysis of results using microscopes and electrical test equipment
Technical and Soft Skills
Desired Technical Skills & Knowledge:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing and lab environment

Hands-on experience with machine operations preferred

Good hand-eye coordination, high dexterous skills required, detail-oriented

Strong analytical skills; ability to evaluate and examine defects using microscopes

General computer skills required, proficient with MS-office required

Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines required

Physical and Environment
Physical Demands:
-
Duties of the position are performed in a cleanroom manufacturing environment with frequent
exposure to machine operations and chemicals (mostly IPA and adhesives)

Duties may require extended periods of sitting and standing and sustained visual concentration on
equipment and computer monitors

Duties require wearing clean room apparel at all times which includes face masks, gloves, hairnets, safety
glasses, coveralls, ESD shoes and protective foot booties.

Shift: Primary Morning Shift however shift flexibility and overtime is required

Typical Experience and Education
A college degree or diploma in a field related to electornics or materials engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Role requires flexibility to work extended hours as per customer needs
Salary
The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.
