About the Role
Join Celestica's team as a Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process. You will be a key driver in the design, development, deployment, and optimization of manufacturing processes to ensure we achieve our goals for quality, cost, and delivery for Celestica and our valued customers. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, program management skills, and a collaborative spirit to navigate complex technical and business challenges.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
- Process Development & Optimization: Lead the development and release of the full manufacturing process for new customer products, guiding the project from initial quote through to final delivery.
- Customer Roadmap Implementation: Understand and implement customer technical roadmaps and related process development initiatives.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFX): Use DFX tools, processes, and test vehicles to develop and implement costed and optimized feedback, focusing on reducing manufacturing costs and enhancing product quality and reliability.
- Process Assessment & Control: Plan and lead the assessment of process application capability using Design of Experiments (DOE). Devise process controls and data collection strategies.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Evaluate complex data to assist with reporting yield, reliability, and diagnosing root cause failures impacting product quality.
- Technical Documentation & Communication: Prepare reports documenting testing methods, findings, and conclusions for analysis. Ensure accurate and timely communication to management on critical technical and business issues affecting customer projects.
- Program Management: Manage the financial aspects of internal and external lab projects. Develop test plans, quotes, and documentation, and prepare summarizing reports for customers.
- Lab Equipment / Process Lead: 2.5D / 3D CT Xray process, Bend testing, Shock&Vibe testing
What You'll Bring (Knowledge/Skills/Competencies):
- Strong Leader and Mentor: Drive and enable the lab teams to continue to evolve the capabilities and ability to support assembly services customers
- SMT Expertise: Hands-on knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes, including stencil design, program requests, placement capabilities, oven profiling, tooling (workboard holders), and edge bonding.
- Manufacturing Process Expertise: Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as rework, profiling, edge bonding, assembly, X-ray, and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection).
- Testing & Analysis: Experience and understanding of reliability tests like Accelerated Thermal Cycling, Bend, Shock & Vibration tests.
- Financial Acumen: Strong skills in quoting and costing analysis.
- Technical Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Soft Skills: High levels of organizational, team, interpersonal, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Emotional Intelligence: A high level of emotional intelligence, demonstrating open-mindedness, and the ability to collaboratively engage multiple departments and manage difficult situations positively.
- Proven track record of leading and developing new SMT assembly processes
Experience & Education:
- Experience: 5 to 7 years in a similar role or industry.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Environment & Physical Demands:
- Lab Environment: Work involves frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, and hazardous substances.
- Fine Motor Skills: Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination and visual acuity to manipulate very small samples (e.g., tweezers under a microscope).
- Physical Stamina: Duties require extended periods of sitting/standing, sustained visual concentration on detailed data/monitors, and repetitive manual movements.
- Availability: Overtime and occasional travel will be required.
