Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that suppliers of electronic components, PCB assemblies, mechanical parts, and outsourced manufacturing meet the stringent quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements of an AS9100‑compliant Electronic Contract Manufacturing (ECM/EMS) environment. This role supports programs serving aerospace, defense, and high‑reliability industries. The SQE drives supplier capability, process control, and continuous improvement to ensure consistent delivery of mission‑critical electronic products.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor customer and Celestica requirements/expectations flowed down to suppliers and sub suppliers to ensure clear expectations are defined and understood.
  • Quality Planning during new product introduction, flawless launch, transitions and significant process changes.
  • Management and reporting of risk-based Supplier Audit program. Performing Supplier Qualification audits to assess quality systems, technical capability and process capability. Assist in supplier selection and onboarding.
  • Developing and deploying robust Global Supplier Quality processes and procedures. Document control, maintenance and continual improvement of Supplier Quality processes.
  • Create, analyze and report supplier performance data, metrics and KPI’s.
  • Monitor ongoing supplier performance and Drive Supplier Quality Improvement Plans to address systemic issues. Work with supplier’s and Celestica’s site representatives to effectively drive root cause and corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Participate in Periodic Business Reviews of high impact/ Preferred Suppliers. Active engagement in Celestica’s supplier performance objectives.
  • Educate suppliers on the deployment of core quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, 8D/ Root Cause Analysis and problem resolution.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require repetitive manual movements (e.g., keyboarding), carrying, pushing or pulling light objects, (under 5 kg.), carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects (over 5 kg.), crouching, climbing
  • Sustained visual concentration on small areas, such as monitors, screens, precise eye/hand coordination, sustained visual concentration on numbers, legal documents

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Working knowledge of engineering and supply chain systems (ERP System SAP).
  • Practical knowledge of international industry quality standards including, as appropriate, AS9000 series, AITF16949, FDA, VDA etc.
  • Experience with electronic and mechanical assembly, as well as a wide range of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with supplier management and performance
  • Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain planning processes.
  • Good programming skills.
  • Knowledge of CMM Programming
  • Good understanding of PPAP and AS9102 First Article Inspection Report
  • Strong understanding of documentation processes & quality systems.
  • Strong understanding of ISO/AS standards.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in implementing change orders that affect pricing, costs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in some or all of the following applications: MS Office and Google Suite.

Bachelor's degree in an engineering background or in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experiency.
