Decision Support Specialist

Summary

We are looking for a skilled Decision Support Specialist to drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecast modeling for key business groups. In this role, you will analyze core operational metrics, prepare weekly and monthly reporting packages, and participate in projects focused on cost efficiency and profit maximization. Joining our collaborative team, you will present actionable insights to management while partnering cross-functionally to shape our financial success.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Acts as project leader for the development of financial plans for a business group or customer account;
• Develops timelines, plan guidance and plan assumptions;
• Gathers and analyzes information on which to base plan assumptions;
• Oversees the development and preparation of alternative plan models;
• Prepares and presents summaries to management;
• Prepares monthly financial reporting packages including forecasts, results and financial and operational metrics;
• Completes special projects involving the analysis of financial information related to inventory, costs, headcount, profit maximization, expense targets both within finance or as member of a cross functional or customer team;
• As required, plays a leadership role with junior members of the decision support team, coordinating and guiding activities, providing direction or leading group projects.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• A good understanding of financial statements with increased focus on P&L management;
• Intermediate Excel and Powerpoint skills are required;
• Intermediate to Advanced English skills (both written and spoken) are required;
• Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadline;
• Ability to bridge between actual, plan and forecast, analyzing mix impacts and summarizing in management reports;
• Ability to analyze a profit center or cost center budget identifying key drivers;
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal customers;
• Ability to direct others on company accounting practices;
• Provide basic recommendations based on interpretation of results;
• Basic understanding of internal and external customer needs is required to sometimes make effective/informed decisions related to own role;
• Strong communication and presentation skills;
• Have a mindset for continuous improvement, be teamwork oriented, an open communicator and detailed oriented

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
• Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
• Occasional overnight travel may be required

Typical Experience

• Three to six years of relevant experience

Typical Education

• Bachelor's degree, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
