Summary

The Specialist, IT Solutions will engage with site business functions to identify and advocate business process improvement opportunities through the use of IT solutions. Collect, analyze, develop, document and communicate business requirements, and work with various IT teams to develop and deliver solutions. Provide support and user training on selected systems (for example SFC, ERP and local applications). Participate in IT projects in various capacities, including project coordination and management.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • This position is responsible for the ongoing delivery, maintenance, and augmentation of existing Power BI analytics. The ideal candidate has an aptitude for:
  • Understanding business requirements and translating to technical spec
  • Building complex data models and relationships to visualizing analytical findings

  • Presenting analytical concepts and findings in ways that resonate with non-technical audiences (verbal + visual communication)

  • Communicating observations, requirements and assumptions during the development cycle

  • Stakeholder engagement/management

  • Training in front of a live audience

  • PowerBI System Administration

  • Potential travel opportunities

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. Manage commitments and changing priorities. Prioritize and re-assess schedules and tasks quickly and effectively.
  • Team player who possesses exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), is able to learn quickly, is self-motivated and has excellent analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of basic supply chain / financial / operational functions (e.g. accounting/budgeting, supplier/vendor management, customer management, sourcing, planning, buying, logistics, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Supports the Self Service Analytics community

Hard Skills:

Expertise with Microsoft Power BI Desktop development (3+ years experience)

  • Comprehensive understanding of DAX formulas to build efficient logic
  • 3 years experience with Power Query and data transformation
  • UI design experience and attention to details relating to layout and best practices
  • Customizing visuals to be on brand and professional looking 

Competent with Microsoft Power BI/Fabric Cloud Service

  • Administering and managing Microsoft Power BI.
  • Configuring and maintaining  Power BI environments and data gateways, monitoring the performance and health of Power BI environments and solutions, troubleshooting issues, performing root-cause analysis, and investigating platform-related issues with data engineers / Microsoft Support.
  • Debugging in the cloud environment (data refresh fails, end user issues, system issues etc)
  • Setting up, building, and creating deployment pipelines using DevOps best practices, implementing and enforcing data governance policies, best practices, and security standards
  • Performing monthly, quarterly, and yearly housekeeping activities to optimally maintain environments and orphaned objects
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for the Power BI environment and internal/external client reporting
  • Staying abreast of the latest features, updates, and enhancements; provide recommendations for improvements and optimizations

  • Work with databases and SQL coding, programming in Python, .NET, Java, R, manage MS Azure resources

Typical Experience

  • 4 to 6 years; Experience in similar roles
