Summary

The Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design works with cross-functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in manufacturing, testing, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed.

Based in Penang, Malaysia, the successful candidate will be a self-starter who likes to take responsibility and works best with little supervision. Likes to perform various tasks can handle multiple priorities and has previously performed in a similar position.  This is a 'hands-on' role requiring a strong technical background and product development experience.

Detailed Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • On board DC-DC issues analysis and verification. debug and optimization
  • PSU issues analysis, and verification.
  • PI simulation and evaluation
  • System-level Power issue analysis and verification
  • Create a Test Plan and review the Test Report
  • Collaborate with a global team, including the internal team, customers, and vendors

Job Requirement:

  • Degree in Power Electronics or Electrical, and equivalents.
  • Familiar with discrete parts
  • Recognize common topologies such as Buck, Boost, Fly-back, and others.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cost optimization and power efficiency.
  • Skilled at bench work
  • Good understanding on power distribution and PDN network 
  • Experience with PCB post-route PI tool:  Sigrity Power SI or other.
  • Power circuit verification and test. Create test plan and test report
  • Excellent skills: electrical load, power supply, oscilloscopes, voltage/current probes, etc.
  • Solid English proficiency (spoken and written)
  • Mandarin proficiency is highly desirable (spoken nd written)
  • Know the basics for power supply design
  • Familiar with the AC and DC PSU topologies
  • Familiar with the AC and DC PSU selection and qualification 
  • Familiar with Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
