Summary

Celestica is seeking a high-caliber, multi-disciplinary Senior Staff System Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and lifecycle management of highly complex systems. Systems & Applications Design at Celestica is an interdisciplinary field of engineering where you will partner with cross-functional teams of engineers, customers, strategic supply chain networks, and project leadership to ensure robust, market-leading product development.
In this senior technical leadership role, you will hold ultimate accountability for turning complex product requirements into highly reliable system realities within our key regulated markets, including HealthTech, Aerospace & Defense, Power Infrastructure, Industrial, and Semiconductor Capital Equipment. We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation across multiple engineering domains (electronic, mechanical, and/or software) who can seamlessly bridge these disciplines to drive end-to-end system definition, architectural decomposition, and risk management from the initial drawing board to full-scale production.

Detailed Description

● System Architecture and Design

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust technical solutions for complex multi-domain projects.
  • Define and architect the overall system solution, effectively dividing complex tasks across various specialized engineering teams for execution.
  • Analyze sophisticated system-level trade-offs, drive cross-discipline resolutions, and develop strategic technology deployment plans.
  • Develop system concepts, interpret customer specifications, and author comprehensive system plans, requirements, and specifications.

● Risk Management, Safety & Compliance

  • Drive rigorous system-level risk management processes throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and enforce system reliability, maintainability, and safety parameters.
  • Ensure full engineering compliance with global industrial standards, safety regulations, and environmental protocols.
  • Enhance product designs continuously by integrating critical feedback from manufacturing, test, supply chain, and simulation reviews.

● Cross-Functional Leadership & Project Execution

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, regulations and best practices to contribute to the advancement of technology roadmap, procedures, quality, efficiency or the acquisitions of new capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and domain-spanning mentorship to a global team of engineers.
  • Act as one of the primary technical contacts for customers, managing expectations and translating operational needs into actionable engineering directives.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary testing, simulation, and empirical evaluation to validate, measure, and troubleshoot overall system performance.
  • Participate actively in high-level project planning, scheduling, budget considerations, and timeline definitions.
  • Liaise seamlessly with external suppliers, contractors, customers, and key internal business stakeholders to clear execution roadblocks.

  • System Architecture Design & Interdisciplinary Integration across Electronic, Mechanical, and Software. Experience in one of the system architectures for compute platforms, complex electro-mechanical / robotic systems, or instrumentations with mixed signal design.
  • Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Reliability Engineering.
  • Requirements Engineering, Specification Writing, and Scope Management.
  • System-Level Verification, Testing, Validation, and Failure Analysis.
  • Global Safety Standards and Regulatory Compliance Awareness.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. (Ph.D. with tailored industrial exposure is welcome to apply).
  • Typically requires 11 to 14 years of direct engineering experience embedded within multi-disciplinary product development lifecycles.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, ability to work in an international team.
  • Good teamwork attitude, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Global business travel may be required.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
