Maintenance Lead - 2nd Shift

Summary

2nd SHIFT  - Entry level during which an employee receives both functional and organizational training under close supervision. Incumbents carry out assignments within well-defined practices, procedures and policies. Works independently on details of assignments, and has limited decision-making authority; most decisions are made or guided by the immediate supervisor. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department's/divisions goals. Works under close Supervision and requires direction on how assignments are to be executed; begins to put forward ideas on how work assignments are completed. Establishes cooperative relationships to work effectively with colleagues; supports others and participates as a team member, and takes responsibility for own work commitments. Interacts directly with immediate supervisor, co-workers and team members; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Maintains log sheets, inspection records, computer monitoring data and other record keeping systems as required by the specific program areas.
• Participates in and provides leadership to safety committees, coordinates activities of subcommittees in specific areas.
• Documents meetings and implements tracking and reporting methods.
• Provides information and guidance to employees on safety and ergonomic issues.
• Conducts accident/incident investigations to determine cause.
• Recommends and implements corrective measures, performs repairs and monitors results.
• Selects and manages contractors and vendors to obtain and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
• Must be able to work 1st Shift
• Must be able to work 2nd shift

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• General understanding of facility operations and related issues and requirements.
• Strong record keeping and project management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external  customers.
• General understanding of basic computer applications 
• General knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical preferred

Physical Demands

• Duties of the position are performed in generally good working conditions with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
• Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
• Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.
• Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects over 20 pounds.
• Must be able to work 2nd shift

Typical Experience

• Zero to two years of relevant experience.

Typical Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Educational requirements may vary by geography.
