Summary

The Engineering Product Manager is accountable for maintaining the viability of all Celestica designs that
contribute to a customer’s product portfolio. Collaboration with the customer and Celestica stakeholders
to plan and execute design and maintenance functions is essential to the role. Individuals in this role
must build a broad understanding of the customer’s products, roadmaps, and Way of Work. Developing
positive long-term relationships with customers is also key to success. This is a leadership position with
responsibility to guide the activities of several Celestica departments- but without direct report authority
over any specific function. Associates in this role become effective by gaining technical product
familiarity, developing strong relationships, and providing timely, reliable, and trustworthy guidance for the
maintenance of the Product and Platform. This is a hybrid role is based in the Portland, Oregon facility.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage two or more customer products of medium complexity (technology, maturity, BOM
    size, production volume, regional footprint).
  • Provide a reliable and well-informed technical
    interface for customers.
  • Execute product roadmap plans and agile resolution of short-term
    issues as required.
  • Develop and maintain a Product Portfolio for each customer with a deep understanding of
    shared sub-systems and configurations
  • Manage all changes to the Celestica Item Controlled products in a customer’s portfolio,
    including customer/stakeholder communication, approval, priority, schedule, and cost
    recovery.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for the customer and CLS stakeholders.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities to grow the portfolio content.
  • Maintain product revision plans across products and sites.
  • Monitor and report product performance quarterly. Drive resolution of performance issues.
  • Define the scope for engineering tasks and projects related to the product.
  • Define scope for implementation of design changes- ie, Waiver, Block revision. Approve
    all waivers.
  • Collaborate with other Celestica product managers and stakeholders to identify and
    implement CIP for product management processes.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Project Management - Demonstrated ability to manage diverse technical projects
    effectively is a core competency. The typical products maintained generate a
    broad variety of change requirements, and each change requires a disciplined
    approach for successful implementation. The Celestica engineering PMO will
    assign project managers to larger projects, but the product manager must act as
    the Project manager for smaller tasks.
  • Technical Foundation and Curiosity - Close collaboration with product experts,
    engineers of all disciplines, and manufacturing partners is essential.
    Demonstrated ability to quickly learn the “language” of a product and customer is
    required.
  • Leadership - Demonstrate "Individual Leadership Behaviors"; as per Celestica
    Leadership Imperatives.
  • Financial Acumen / Business Planning -A solid understanding of Celestica’s
    NRE processes, including opportunity management, P&L, quoting, cost
    accounting, and invoicing/ revenue recognition is key to the role. Experience in
    liaison roles between engineering, account management, and financial controllers
    is valuable.
  • The following competencies may also be required and performed with help or

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer
    monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.)
    are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or consideration of an equivalent
    combination of education and experience.

 

  • Compensation range min $74,938 to $99,303/year
