Summary

This job is the first Director level. Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate managers and employees performing highly specialized roles in a major function or division/department within medium to large sites. This includes long-term planning, objective setting, policy formation, interpretation and management while providing latitude and discretion to subordinates. Accountable for projects or programs on a multi-national or global basis. Work requires investigating and resolving a wide variety of highly unusual conditions that carry long-term implications. Requires developing new strategies, policies, practices, methods, programs or techniques and utilizing them to analyze and interpret difficult problems or situations and/or establishing new strategic direction that is site or multi-site specific. Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Has overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods and employees in a functional area. Makes final decisions on administrative and operational matters in area of responsibility to ensure achievement of objectives. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers. Assigns objectives, reviews performance and approves employee compensation, coaches for improved performance. Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions normally involve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other senior level managers. May represent the organization in public speaking venues and/or community events.

This role be will be primarily focused on Export Controlled / ITAR A&D accounts. It will be a Global dual leadership role (Strategic Supply Chain and Commodity Management). This role requires a US Passport to support ITAR and Export controlled programs.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manages a group of commodity management and buying employees.
  • Responsible for a group of components or services and purchasing responsibility for these group of components and services.
  • Maintains region responsibility for developing procurement policies and successful implementation of procedures to ensure a strategic purchasing function.
  • Leads negotiations for commodities managed by the team.
  • Establishes corporate target and provides direction to managers in areas of global pricing, terms and conditions, supplier programs and monitoring of supplier performance.
  • Has regular interaction and participates in negotiations with senior executives of industry leading multinational companies.
  • Develops strong relationships with key supplier senior management.
  • Provides targets and direction in worldwide product sources process.
  • Provides direction in the development and execution of procurement strategies for the group of components or services including competitive benchmarking, technology direction, supplier analysis, supplier development and selection and pricing strategies for group of complex components or services.
  • Manages the implementation of strategic SCM initiatives.
  • Maintains materials cost responsibility.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of the marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities in industry pricing, technology, supply/demand and emerging trends.
  • Expert knowledge of Celestica’s global supply chain including strategic policies and objectives.
  • Excellent understanding of global business environment and Customers business, organization, products and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts and financial analysis.
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to interface with many international sites to establish strong working relationships and cooperation.
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of managers and employees

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Frequent overnight travel is required.

Salary

The stated range includes Base Salary and target Short-Term Incentive (STI) compensation only. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.

Annual Salary - 123-178k
