Global commodity managers own and drive supplier partnerships, ensuring Celestica delivers competitiveness through development and management of a highly competitive, best in class supply base.

  

Position Summary:

 

We are currently seeking Global Commodity Managers (GCM’s) with a solid track record of supplier development, part sourcing and supplier management for build-to-print, mechanical and electromechanical commodities for the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) line of business.

 

The global commodity managers will drive strategic sourcing, supplier selection & development, supplier performance management and materials cost reduction initiatives for assigned commodities and suppliers within the Aerospace and Defense market segment.

 

The successful candidates will have significant experience in the set-up, alignment and management of supplier long-term agreements (LTA’s) to ensure delivery of business case results and ongoing cost productivity initiatives. Global commodity managers report to our A&D strategic sourcing leader, and work directly with business segment leaders to ensure our strategic sourcing plans are aligned to drive profitable growth for the segment.

 

Detailed Description:

 

This individual will focus on sourcing predominantly within North America and Europe, with limited requirements  and Asia. This individual perform highly specialized roles in areas of supplier development, materials sourcing, and quality management, and is required to have a working understanding of engineering and technical requirements. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Strategic Sourcing Responsibilities

  • Driving supplier cost reductions, including establishment of supporting long term agreements (LTA’s)
  • Responsibility for ensuring execution of strategic sourcing and cost reduction requirements for assigned commodities
  • Ownership of supplier quality performance and first article (FAIRs) processes and ongoing supplier quality (DDPM) improvement.
  • New supplier development and new product (NPI) part sourcing
  • Engagement in value engineering projects to drive material cost reductions
  • Achievement of quarterly and annual cost reduction goals

 

Business Controls

  • Ensuring all business controls requirements are met, including supplier on/off-boarding, supplier audit and compliance with all Quality Management requirements and documents related to assigned areas of sourcing and supply chain
  • Support of all external audit processes, including customer audits
  • Performs periodic audits of internal processes
  • Other duties as assigned by the A&D strategic sourcing leader

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

 

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of supplier development, strategic sourcing and commodity management
  • Extensive knowledge of the Aerospace and Defense business segment
  • Knowledge of customer contracts, contractual obligations as they relate to supply chain requirements and liabilities, and experience managing to these contract terms
  • Significant experience in driving and implementing supplier LTA’s, contracts and agreements
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • Experience with driving supplier cost reduction, development and strategic sourcing
  • Biased toward action to drive ongoing cost productivity, including focus on alternate supplier resourcing where required
  • Track record of supplier quality improvement, and a working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Strong knowledge of import / export, ITAR and other regulatory and logistics requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Able to work effectively cross-functionally and with other sites to achieve objectives.
  • Frequent travel is required - up to 25%

 

Experience: 

 

  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing, materials cost reduction and supplier contracts (LTA’s) within A&D at product volumes similar to those managed by Celestica (ie. aircraft / aerospace volumes rather than the lower volume programs such as those seen in satellite and space programs).
  • 10-15 years in SCM discipline with majority focused on strategic sourcing in Aerospace and Defense

 

Education: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business or Engineering)
  • Graduate degree preferred
