We are currently seeking a Global Commodity Engineer based in North America.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Work with internal and external customers to drive ongoing quality improvement through DFM and New Part Qualification.

Support NA Design Teams in development of leading edge PCB’s for high speed networking applications.

Work under minimum supervision. Build internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal service.

Assesses the alignment of production, support and engineering processes and practices with Celestica's Values, corporate strategies and Celestica’s specific business assessment. Works as part of a team to drive supplier quality improvement and supplier technical development.

Regular audits for process compliance and evaluate technical capability.

Rapid reaction on-site for delivered quality issues and problem management until the issue is resolved, driving failure analysis and corrective action through an 8D response.

Work with the Commodity Management team to develop the PCB supply base and evaluate and qualify new suppliers and complex technology parts.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Advanced knowledge in PCB Engineering, and quality processes
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies, or other related company products.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
- Knowledge of Automotive quality tools - APQP, FMEA, PPAP etc.
- In-depth knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
- Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
- Excellent project management, presentation, database management and computer skills.
- Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems.
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Physical Demands
- Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Typical Experience
- 3-6 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience
- In depth knowledge of the PCB manufacturing process is essential including knowledge of high speed design and laminate materials.
- Audit experience or audit certifications is an advantage.
