Summary
This new role is instrumental in accelerating engineering productivity by leading, creating, testing, and automating engineering workflows using agentic AI tools. The job requires investigating and deeply understanding existing engineering workflows across multiple engineering organizations and identifying antiquated processes to modernize. This will include documenting existing and new processes, developing custom software, integrating third party tools, testing and deploying infrastructure, training and supporting engineering teams. This position is a technical position and may transition into both a technical and managerial role, thus, past management experience is a plus.
This position in Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
- Design, build, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and product testing pipelines.
- Investigate third-party tools, conduct proof-of-concepts, develop scripts for automating workflows, and test implementations.
- Define key process milestones and data elements needed to build agentic AI tools.
- Work with GCP cloud platforms to deploy, manage, scale, and support automation infrastructure.
- Define and develop dashboards to provide visibility into engineering workflows and status of projects
- Implement and maintain system and application performance monitoring and alerting.
- Integrate security practices into every stage of automated engineering processes.
- Resolve issues that arise during development, testing, and production.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
- Take responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
- Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.
- Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers including Peer-Reviews to achieve elegant solutions.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
- Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Strong scripting and programming skills using Python and AI-related Python libraries.
- Experience with CI/CD and test automation concepts and tools.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platforms (GCP).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, qTest, is a plus.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Demonstrate "People & Team Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
