We are currently seeking an Import/Export Advisor to ensure Celestica's import and export operations comply with US Customs regulations and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). 

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and update import/export policies and guidelines as needed. 
  • Evaluate product specifications based on import/export regulations, work with Global Trade Compliance to classify items, and identify any special instructions or requirements to employees and customers. 
  • Oversee site import and export transactions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and forwarders to address regulatory issues.
  • Oversee the site's CTPAT supply chain security program.
  • Draft and implement Technology Control Plans (TCP) and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the TCP.
  • Conducts education programs and performs due diligence to ensure compliance with US regulations. 
  • Responsible for process development, re-engineering, implementation, and training relating to operational improvements or legislation changes related to area of responsibility. 
  • Assesses feasibility of programs with implementation requirements, establishes rollout plan and initiates program execution. 
  • Interfaces with various levels of Celestica management to ensure processes are in place and working such that we maintain compliance with import/export processes.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

 

  • Excellent knowledge of the electronics manufacturing environment, telecommunications and aerospace and defense industries. 
  • Knowledge of US import process and US Customs rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the EAR and ITAR with experience submitting and managing license conditions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve high complexity process/system problems using financial, analytical, and/or statistical models.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and multiple business applications.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • Strong knowledge of US Customs regulations.
  • Strong HTS classification skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the ITAR and EAR regulations.
  • Implementing and managing Internal Compliance and Technology Control Programs.
  • Experience with SAP Global Trade Services Module preferred.
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience. Customs Broker License preferred.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experiency.
