Detailed Description:

Celestica is looking for a Packaging engineer responsible for leading and executing packaging development on new products for customers. Additional responsibility will be development of new test procedures to quantify the reliability of a design to the customers’ requirements, and failure analysis resulting from these tests.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Electronic protective packaging design & qualification
  • Perform instrumentation planning and test conduct of all Environmental Tests including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity and structural testing
  • Dynamic and thermal data acquisition and analysis
  • Design of Experiments
  • Prepare test plans, test reports, and technical documentation of project work assigned
  • Work directly with design engineering, structural analysis personnel, manufacturing engineering and commercial customers
  • Work directly with suppliers, including packaging, test equipment, and others as required
  • Provide test support to programs as needed


Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provides technical direction, within a discipline, of product level complex projects which may span from inception to completion of development.
  • Prioritizes, Schedules, and Coordinates and defines the technical aspects of projects.
  • Coordinates activities of assigned team members. Responsible for interfaces/interactions between defined pieces of a total project.
  • Reviews contribution of others for validity of approach, completeness, and thoroughness and/or mentors and advises others on design and analysis. Interacts at functional management level (internal and external) regarding project status.
  • Significant contributor to and driver of functional level development process improvement.
  • Responsible for keeping organization current with developments in industry and technology that may impact Celestica’s ability to meet and/or exceed customer’s expectations and requirements.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency with Siemens LMS Simcenter/Test.Lab and Unholtz-Dickie vibration control systems/software
  • Working knowledge of other shock & vibration systems & software (VibrationResearch preferred)
  • Working knowledge of HALT/HASS testing and specifications
  • Ability, experience, and willingness to build L11 cabinets in the lab from scratch
  • Ability to field strip JBOD, servers, communication switches, etc. to component level
  • Working knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools, safety and work processes
  • Expertise qualifying computer cabinets (L11) and electronic enclosures installed in same
  • Experience with cabinet level integration, cable routing, cooling, etc.
  • Experience with high speed cables, specification development, qualification, & testing
  • Experience with high speed interconnects, in depth knowledge of contact physics required
  • Expertise & proven track record developing packaging solutions for electronic enclosures and sub-assemblies, identify gaps in product and/or packaging design of 3rd parties
  • Proven track record of design development of cabinet packaging
