Summary

Incumbents apply in-depth knowledge in a specific area of specialization. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgement. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the divisions/departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Works under minimum Supervision. Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment. May lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff. Builds internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers and internal service.

Detailed Description

Activities include (but not limited) the following:

-Execute assembly / test bring up for new customer products
-Maintain test fixtures and specialized tools for Manufacturing test automation
-Involved in all areas of the test development process which includes procurement, SW development, HW integration, system integration, equipment installation and qualification
-Implement production systems to ensure maximum utilization of critical resources, maximum throughput, minimum cost, and capacity growth
-Integrate tools and code developed by other internal groups or external customers
-Debug of solutions using design of experiments, tools, and failure analysis methodologies
-Project leadership, including management of team members, suppliers, and customers
-Collaborate with engineering teams to review and provide input
-Apply a continuous improvement mindset to all aspects of the development process
-Limited travel to other Celestica sites

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

-Engineering foundation principles and competencies
-Knowledge and understanding of design process for systems and printed circuit boards
-Knowledge and understanding of systems and PCB manufacturing processes and equipment
-Knowledge of industry and quality standards as well as for incoming materials
-Ability to evaluate, diagnosis, and troubleshoot issues
-Knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and PCBs and subassemblies
-Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data and determine root cause of problems
-Knowledge of testing SW, processes, and methodologies and failure analysis
-Knowledge of IT platforms, database design, and programming languages
-1+yr of SW development experience on a Linux platform with one programming language (Python preferred)
-3+yr of Engineering development and manufacturing operations support (preferred)
-Strong Operations background (electronics manufacturing preferred)
-SW design, development, debug, and release
-HW development, integration and qualification (preferred)
-SW design, development, debug, and release
-Project Management of multiple projects
-Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders (internal and external)
-Instrumentation automation and drive development (preferred)
-Development in Hyperscale, Cloud Connectivity and/or Datacenter industry (preferred)
-Development experience with National Instruments Labview (preferred)
-Experience with National Instruments Test Standards (preferred)
-Experience with PCB design and layout (preferred)
-Experience with any of the following: JavaScript, HTML, XML, TCL, Bash, MS Visual Studio, .NET (C#, VB, ASP), SQL, GIT (preferred)

Physical Demands

  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

  • Three plus years of relevant experience

Typical Education

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Engineering in Computer or Electrical or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
