Detailed Description:

The Senior Lead Engineer, Software/Controls Design we are seeking should have 7-10 years experience from an embedded / firmware skills background. Experience includes having prior experience with HW bring up, board bring up and interacting with the HW teams to enable SW like BIOS, BMC, Uboot, Linux kernel, BSP, Diags. The support focus is on FW and SW for the market leading Celestica Server/Storage/Networking product lines. The successful Senior Lead Engineer, Software/Controls Design will  assist in hardware support as needed, work closely with OEM and Service Provider customers to define requirements, manage deliverables and support initial bring-up to full production as well as work independently, and in a team environment.



- Conduct detailed design efforts. Specially for linux driver or kernel part. Closely monitor detailed design progress and publish status report timely. 

- Coordinate software test/verification and debug, support system integration and validation. Manage issues/defects and drive root cause analysis/bug fix. 

- Work with design PM and quality specialists to make and meet commitments for quality, deliverables, and schedule. 

- Contribute to software development process evolution.

- Design requirements analysis based on inputs from business/marketing groups and system architects.

- Create firmware architecture design and/or module design specifications and drive detailed design activities including coding, code inspection, unit test, integration test and functional verification.

- Coordinate firmware test/verification and debug, support system integration and validation.  Manage issues/defects and drive root cause analysis/bug fix.

- Work with design PM and quality specialists to make and meet commitments for quality, deliverables, and schedule.

- Contact with silicon/firmware vendors for design updates or critical issues resolving.

- Take leadership in investigation of key technologies.



- Experience of 7+ years as a firmware engineer comfortable in HW bring up

- Should be proficient in BMC, OpenBMC, IPMI, Redfish software

- Strong C programming skills

- Should have worked in Uboot, Yocto Linux etc

- Strong in Linux kernel environment

- Should be a team player and have solid communication skills

- Understand feature requirements, architecture, and design BMC software mainly in C language.

- Comfortable with reading HW specs.

- Must have had hands on experience in communication protocols like I2C, SPI, IPMI etc.


Travel Requirements:

- Travel internationally, as needed to work at customer sites to debug hardware and software  (10-25%)
