The Hardware Platform Solutions team works with our CCS (Connectivity and Cloud Solutions) Market teams to deliver products and services to our customers in a rapidly growing business.  Reporting to the Design Engineering Director, you will be working in a highly skilled team of mechanical, electrical and/or thermal Engineers focused on developing and networking, compute and storage products.  This team will also provide NPI and sustaining support for our global organization. The successful candidate will interface with our leadership team, our global design organization and customers on strategy and execution. The candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of mechanical engineering and all aspects of hardware development. The Candidate should have a working knowledge of relevant industry standards and requirements, and able to analyze in depth design challenges quickly and arrive at refined solutions in a cross-functional environment. 

The Hardware Design Engineer will provide design expertise in their discipline to support the market leading Celestica Server/Storage/Networking product lines.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provides technical direction, within a discipline, of product level complex projects which may span from inception to completion of development. 
  • Responsible for interfaces/interactions between defined pieces of a total project. 
  • Significant contributor of functional level development process. 
  • Responsible for keeping organization current with developments in industry and technology that may impact Celestica’s ability to meet and/or exceed customer’s expectations and requirements.
  • Assist in software support as needed.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to support customers.
  • Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in the winning of new business.
  • Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned



  • 8+ years of related work experience.


Engineering Foundation Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies, or other related company products.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and quality standards and SPC methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems, printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • In-depth knowledge of design engineering (e.g., analog circuit design, digital circuit design, digital integrated circuit design, etc.) for systems and printed circuit boards.
  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical design requirements and execution for high-end, complex telecommunications or datacenter products, at the PCB, chassis, and rack level
  • Extensive experience in managing design tradeoffs in the areas of mechanical design, thermal management, EMC, and hardware design
  • Strong design experience with sheet metal (both soft- and hard-tooled), injection molded parts, thermal management technologies, and designing complex and dense electromechanical products
  • Extensive experience with 3D solid modeling, preferably Creo
  • In-depth knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.


  • Bachelors or Master degree in Engineering. 


Personal Attributes:

  • The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.


  • Travel internationally 10-25%, as needed, to work at customer sites to debug hardware and software.
