Summary
The Operations Quality Specialist is responsible for overseeing the three key phases of Quality Management—Quality Planning/Prevention, Corrective Action, and Continuous Improvement. This role leads process and procedure definition, ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality products to customers.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the team in managing quality excursions independently, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
- Oversee product and material quality from NPI to mass production.
- Develop and implement quality control plans for materials, processes, and products.
- Monitor, analyze, and report quality KPIs for both internal (factory) and external (customer) metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance for customers, Celestica, and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain internal quality systems, procedures, work instructions, and workmanship standards.
- Lead and follow up on process, product, system, and supplier audits, including:
- Industry Standards Compliance (e.g., ISO)
- Regulatory and Safety Audits
- Compliance Audit
- Ensure the timely and accurate implementation of Engineering Changes (EC) and Supplier Process Change Notifications (SPCN), both externally and internally.
- Coach and mentor junior quality staff to enhance their expertise in quality management.
- Execute assigned tasks from leadership and contribute to quality strategy deployment.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Strong understanding of quality tools, ISO and IPC standards, and quality management processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools for quality metrics.
- In-depth knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
- Awareness of business operations and their impact on customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery, and overall profitability.
- Expertise in quality methodologies such as FMEA, PMP, SPC, and 8D problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and Kaizen principles.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
Typical Experience & Education
Experience: 6 to 8 years in a similar role or industry.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by location.
