Summary

The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for defining, qualifying, installing, and supporting test equipment and processes. Key responsibilities involve debugging test solutions using methodologies like Design of Experiments (DoE) and failure analysis, while collaborating cross-functionally with Quality and Process Engineering to resolve performance and yield issues. A crucial part of the role is to develop improvement roadmaps for test coverage, diagnosability, test time reduction, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The manager will also be responsible for analyzing manufacturing data (yield reports, equipment logs) to drive solutions and support the integration of test equipment into Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Support development of production test strategies based on product design specification                      
  • Develop test plans and requirements for customer products including both hardware and software elements                     
  • Lead the procurement, qualification, and installation support for manufacturing for a large customer                     
  • Be accountable for the test process optimization with a focus on productivity improvements to cycle time and yield within a CFT or across a large equipment set serving multiple customers     
  • Provide project leadership, including management of (and communication with) team members, suppliers for comprehensive test deployments including structural, functional, system, stress and final test applications for a large customer                       
  • Support sales process by providing support to the quoting process.                  
  • Work with Design to enhance solutions with feedback from product testability, test coverage, diagnosability, reparability, firmware/diagnostics and user experience.               
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations                       
  • Lead and drive complex problems related to product yield or test performance                
  • Support sales process by providing support to the quoting process.
  • Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators. 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Lead test process optimization with a focus on productivity improvements, cycle time, and yield within an Operations value stream
  • Under supervision, define, specify, qualify, install, support, and optimize test process and equipment solutions for manufacturing
  • Debug test processes and equipment solutions using design of experiments, tools, and failure analysis methodologies
  • Collaborate with Quality, Process, and Equipment engineers to identify and resolve product and test yield and performance issues
  • Develop improvement roadmaps for test coverage, diagnosability, reparability, test time reductions, and OEE
  • Analyze and interpret data from yield reports, equipment logs, and product diagnostics to identify sources of yield loss
  • Provide solution support to process engineers to enhance detection of known defect types as part of a Process Control plan
  • Support the integration of test equipment into Manufacturing Execution Systems, including yield, tester logs, and product parametric information

Typical Experience

  • Required min 5 years of experience in similar position, preferably in Electronic Manufacturing Services.
  • Experienced in Production Operation for SMT, AOI, 5DX, ICT, High Level Assembly and Test.
  • Knowledge in Process ( FMEA, PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma ), Quality ( ISO, IPC-6010 ).
  • Experienced in RF troubleshooting (Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, etc.).
  • Experienced in RF Assembly and Testing.
  • Experienced in Power Supply and Measurement Equipment (familiarity with Agilent or Keysight Power Supply and Multimeter is a plus).
  • Experienced in New Product Introduction (NPI) Process and Methodology.
  • Experienced in PCBA troubleshooting for Analog, Digital, and RF Boards.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and assembly drawing and reading component data specifications.
  • Ability to provide Yield Improvement for Process, Component or Tester related defects.
  • Experienced in RMA and Failure Analysis / Processes.
  • Very Good Mentorship and Supervisory experience with Test and Debug Engineer / Technicians, ~ 20 Staffs.
  • Experienced in customer engagement.
  • Very Good Communications ( Verbal / Written ) and Negotiation Skills pertaining to Customer or Vendor discussions.
  • Very Good Time Management Skills and able to Multitask several Roles ( Test and Product Engineering SME ) as well as People Management Skills.
