Summary

The Manager, Component Engineering is fully qualified to execute job and role accountabilities, working independently on most aspects of the job. Tasks drive continuous improvement in process efficiency. They possess knowledge and skills on the component level and commodity level, including both BTP and/or electronics. They are able to coach and mentor others. The incumbents demonstrate workgroup expertise in supplier awareness, commodity awareness, and collaborate with Global CM , Design teams to ensure corporate-wide alignment of supplier strategy, component library utilization, second sourcing and preferred supplier list alignments.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Leadership:
CE focal point for local (site) issues requiring leadership.
Consolidates, tabulates, analyzes and reports on key performance metrics as per reporting schedule.
Proactively drive continuous improvement in process efficiency.
CE & workgroup first level escalation point

Functional:
Focal point for commodity workgroup - working with internal clients; Trains & mentors Analyst / Associate employees
Drive improvements in component library utilization, second sourcing and PSL alignment
Accountable to ensure timely submission of PSL and component library requests during NPI stages
Manage the data change requests to design team until BOM implementation 
Provide alternate recommendations to support PSL and component library utilization for new product
Provide BOM health analysis included Life cycle analysis, parametric analysis, preferred supplier coverage analysis, Rohs verification, lead time analysis, sourcing status summary, component downsizing summary and etc.
Demonstrate workgroup expertise:
1.  Supplier awareness - understands key preferred suppliers, developing, *industrial recognise & emerging suppliers.
2. Commodity awareness- understands key commodities technical characteristics
3. Collaborates with SSCM prime and Design team to ensure corporate wide alignment of Supplier Strategy, component library and PSL 
Equipment knowledge and skills on the components level, commodity level (BTP &/or Electronics)

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Industry level/standard knowledge such as aerospace & defense, automotive, HealthTech.
Supplier knowledge
Ability to read the components’ datasheet and drawing.
Ability to evaluate and analyze the data from the datasheets and drawings.
Ability to read and interpret supplier documents such as part change notification.
Experiences in alternate recommendation and ability to find the equivalent based on the datasheets and drawings.
Strong system skills
Excellent verbal & written communication
Demonstrated ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to exceed client / customer expectations.
People Management aptitude or experience
Broad knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, materials and processes.

Physical Demands

Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required

Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering
