Summary
The Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design works with cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed.
The Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design (Electrical) develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed
The Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design (Mechanical) develops new mechanical systems/modules and maintains existing designs. Research mechanical concepts and create system solutions using 3D modeling and simulation software. Complete calculations and test, validate, and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed.
Detailed Description
- Plan overall system power architecture, Rack, box, PCB
- On board DC-DC design including: Power Tree, single phase and multi-phase (up to 16 PH) DC-DC converters, LDO, Hot-Swap, Load Switch, eFuse, Oring and fuse etc.
- Understand parasitic parameter, interfere and noise management
- Understand PI design
- Schematic and layout design, guide layout engineers to optimized the PCB design
- BOM management and optimization for high efficiency and low-cost solution
- Create and review test plan
- Review test report
- System level bring up
- Design verification, debugging and optimization
- On-time delivery
- Support, guide and mentor Jr. engineers
- Collaborate with a global team including internal team, customers and vendors
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience,
- On Broad power design experience, RF and analog circuit design is a plus.
- Extensive experience in designing and solving technical problems in the area of power, RF and analog circuit design.
- Broad experience in power supply systems development and design engineering.
- Understand I2C Bus, SMBus, PMBus, SVID Bus… power communication buses
- Experience with eCAD software for schematic and PCB design (Cadence, OrCAD, Altium Designer etc.)
- Good team player
- English is working language
Desired Skills
- Datacentre PSU design and qualification experience
- Rack power design and qualification experience
- Experience with circuit simulation tools (LTspice, TINA etc.)
- Experience with taking circuit designs through analysis, design, build, and test
- Good communication skills
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- 4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
Typical Education
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
