Summary
The Senior Lead Engineer, Program/Project Management is accountable for planning and directing design engineers and other technical engineers working on specific projects. They manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. They are responsible for managing large projects with complex scope, multiple streams of work and inter-dependencies.
Detailed Description

Lead the technology assessment for new products.
-
Work with the product team to influence design decisions, highlight manufacturing risks, and develop mitigation plans.

Collaborate with Product Quality and Reliability Engineers to validate product qualification plans, support reliability testing and review results.
-
Support second source part qualification and coordinate Bill of Materials (BOM) updates.

Lead cross-functional team towards resolution of component/build quality excursions.

Coordinating the transfer of design on failure analysis in processes at manufacturing sites.

Interface with product design teams to provide DFx feedback throughout the product development cycle.

Provide on-site and remote support for pre-production builds.

Review and interpret design specifications and provide feedback to the manufacturing site.

Engage with cross functional design engineering teams, i.e. product engineering, design verification & reliability validation, to successfully launch new products into Manufacturing.

Ensure factory readiness, support manufacturing line bring-up

Provide product debug training and gather feedback on build issues.

Coordinate the projects and their interdependencies. Manage and utilize resources across projects

To support problem solving of moderate scope and complexity.

To support the project teams: R&D, NPI and Gate transitions, ensure the smooth transition to mass production phase, and adhoc requests.

To Coordinate related tasks, and engineering changes with the Design team and Manufacturing team.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Technical Understanding:
High-Speed Digital Circuit Design
Understanding of Ethernet (1G, 10G, 100G, etc.), PCIe, USB, and other high-speed interfaces PCB layout for signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI)
Clocking and jitter management for networking applications
Knowledge of SERDES (Serializer/Deserializer) design
Power Supply Design
Design of DC-DC converters, LDOs, and power sequencing for networking ASICs and SoCs
Power budgeting and efficiency optimization
EMI/EMC compliance for networking equipment is a plus
Thermal & Mechanical Knowledge
Thermal management for networking ASICs (heatsink, airflow, thermal vias)
Enclosure design to meet IP rating and environmental conditions
Compliance & Testing
Knowledge of networking standards: IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet), ITU, and FCC
EMI/EMC compliance testing (CE, FCC, CISPR, etc.)
Reliability testing (temperature cycling, vibration, ESD protection)
Optical & Fiber Networking is a plus
Design and integration of optical transceivers (SFP, QSFP)
Working with WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
Fiber optic signal integrity and loss budget calculation
Protocols & Networking Basics
Understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, QoS, SDN for hardware-level optimization
Knowledge of switching, routing, and security considerations in hardware design
Strategic Thinking: Our programs often have long-term implications and our technical managers play a critical role in thinking strategically, considering the broader organizational goals and how our programs fit into them. This involves planning for scalability, sustainability, and future advancements in the networking product technology.
Risk Management: Technical managers need to work with various stakeholders to identify and mitigate these risks proactively to ensure project success.
Team Leadership: Leading multi-disciplinary teams comprising engineers, domain experts, supply-chain and technology parters requires strong leadership skills. Technical managers should inspire and motivate team members, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts effectively.
Adaptability: Technical managers need to stay updated with the latest trends in manufacturing technology and be adaptable to changes in project requirements or technological advancements.
