Summary
The Associate, Material Pricing role within Supply Chain Management involves understanding customer requirements and leading projects to meet goals. Responsibilities include managing customer pricing proposals, maintaining quote databases, coordinating material cost activities, preparing pricing for new business opportunities (bids), participating in meetings, and analyzing cost variances. This role requires knowledge of marketplace conditions, mechanical/electrical components, BOM structures, and computer applications, as well as strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. The position also involves handling multiple tasks under deadlines, continuous improvement activities, and presenting insights to stakeholders.
Detailed Description
Responsibilities:
- Understand Celestica and Customer requirements and lead projects to ensure to meet Celestica / Customer goals
- Collaborate and project manage Strategic Sourcing/Commodity Management, Purchasing, Material Costing Teams, Engineering teams, and Financial / Customer Focus Team
- Manages customer pricing proposals and maintains historical Database of quotes
- Manage customer requests from end-to-end process through Global Supply Chain Services supporting functions.
- Coordinates and manages the material cost activity for select customers and/or sites
- Prepares material pricing independently for new business opportunities (bids) including generation of Bill of Material, cost analysis, collaboration with Commodity Management and presentation to team leaders and managers.
- Participates in kick-off meetings and interacts with global customer’s units as well as counterparts in other regions.
- Audits and analyzes quarterly cost variances. Consolidates, tabulates, analyzes and reports on various commitment and performance metrics
- Support data management on opportunities where appropriate
- Participate continuous improvement activities and drive for streamline approach to completing repetitive activities
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Working knowledge of the marketplace conditions for market of Connectivity and Cloud, including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
- Strong mechanical and electrical component knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings and electrical specifications.
- Understanding of the Bill of Material (BOM) structure and hierarchy, and ability to analyze the BOM structure to the supporting engineering data.
- Knowledge of computer applications (Excel, MS Office) and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including ERP (SAP) and office systems.
- Has good command in understanding of specific customer needs
- Strong knowledge on Electronics/Storage/Server/Switches product is preferrable
- Strong communication, organization, negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data.
- Presentation of insights and solutions to opportunity stakeholders.
Typical Experience
- 1 to 2 years relevant experience.
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Electrical / Mechanical / Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
