Summary

The SCM Data Steward is responsible for managing and overseeing SCM’s data landscape, ensuring data quality and integrity for key data elements. This role involves collaborating with various SCM departments to determine how key business metrics are tracked, document critical data elements and their definition.  The Steward will establish policies and practices to enable consistency and ultimately connections between reports and across SCM Teams.  Additionally, the Steward will be the SCM focal point for Inventory related data and projects.  As such, the Steward will document and provide guidance on Inventory best practices, calculations and will champion related dashboards to ensure they’re up to date and support business needs.

 

Incumbents apply in-depth knowledge in a specific area of specialization. Works with minimal supervision on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgement. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the divisions/departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Seeks approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound judgment. May lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and functional support staff. Builds internal and external relationships as appropriate, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities. Implements process improvements. Will become a key advisor on issues relating to SCM data. Meets group needs, ensures appropriate resources are available and works to achieve team goals over individual goals. Leads by example and is accountable for their actions.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Data Management:

  • Work within SCM to determine how key business metrics are tracked, their critical data elements and their definition.
  • Collects and maintains comprehensive documentation of key dashboard functionalities, data sources, and user guidelines.
  • Compiles and maintains data dictionaries to key data elements and monitors compliance.
  • Assesses data alignment; identify data-related issues and collaborate with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
  • Works with IT and SCM stakeholders to develop and implement programs.
  • Owns the SCM landing page for key SCM reports; ensures all current metrics are represented and links are active

Inventory Data:

  • Understand key Inventory measurements, data attributes and dashboards; advocates for standardization and provides guidance and training to users.
  • Establishes new and maintains existing Customer/Site Inventory profiles through consultation with users or analysis; shares updates to SCM stakeholders for use in decision making.
  • Establishes requirements for new reports or insights, supports testing of new data elements and dashboards as required.
  • Initiates, develops and leads projects to control inventory and achieve inventory plan.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Overnight travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • Three to six years of relevant experience.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Data Management, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
