Summary
Responsible for overseeing Celestica’s global credit risk exposure, developing the global credit risk framework and policies, and ensuring compliance. This role balances risk appetite with business growth objectives to safeguard the company's financial stability and profitability.
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Treasury, the Senior Manager, Global Credit is a critical leadership position responsible for leading the strategic management and governance of Celestica's global credit risk function. This individual will lead a team, serve as the primary subject matter expert, and act as a key partner to Sales and Finance leadership to balance revenue growth with disciplined risk management. The Senior Manager is accountable for establishing a consistent global credit policy, leveraging technology to automate credit decisioning, and ensuring robust systems are in place to accurately assess and manage global customer credit exposure.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Define, implement, and govern the global credit risk policy and procedures to ensure consistency and discipline in customer credit evaluation, risk rating, and limit setting across all regions and business units.
- Oversee the establishment and rigorous review of credit limits for the largest and most strategic global customers, leveraging external data, financial statements, and internal risk metrics.
- Proactively monitor customer financial performance and exposures, ensuring compliance with established limits, and resolving process deficiencies related to exposure management.
- Own and administer the Global Trade Credit Insurance program, managing carrier compliance and leading all policy renewals and negotiations to maximize coverage utilization.
- Develop frameworks to identify portfolio concentrations, geographic exposures, and sector-specific vulnerabilities.
- Prepare and present detailed credit risk reports, exposure forecasts, and bad debt provisioning analyses to senior management.
- Partner directly with Finance and Business teams to understand strategic customer opportunities, advising on structured deal terms and risk mitigation strategies to support profitable growth.
- Review and assess deviations from standard Credit Clause and Contract Terms, recommending optimal terms and clauses.
- Champion the use of advanced credit systems and technologies (e.g., automated credit scoring, portfolio monitoring tools) to enhance efficiency and data-driven credit risk decision-making.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the team, overseeing daily workflow and fostering technical development
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Deep and current knowledge of global commercial credit risk practices, complex financial statement analysis, structured finance, and all facets of risk mitigation instruments (including trade credit insurance, Letters of Credit, escrow, and collateral/liens).
- Proven ability to manage and leverage complex data ecosystem (e.g., Dynamics 360, SAP, Salesforce) and translate data into clear strategic direction for senior management to effectively balance risk and revenue objectives.
- Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and developing a team focused on credit policy and risk mitigation within a large, multinational corporation.
- Superior negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence C-level customers and internal senior stakeholders on complex risk issues.
- Broad knowledge of the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry and the broader Technology sector.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.).
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in commercial credit risk and financial analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role of a global or centralized credit function within a large, publicly traded multinational corporation.
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a quantitative field.
- Relevant professional designation is highly preferred.
