Summary

Responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and governance of Celestica's global corporate insurance program and enterprise risk transfer policies. Establish processes worldwide to ensure the policies and strategies are effectively carried out.  

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Treasury, the Senior Manager, Global Insurance Risk Management is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the comprehensive design, placement, and administration of Celestica's entire worldwide corporate insurance portfolio. This role acts as the primary subject matter expert, developing and implementing global policies and strategies for risk management and the corporate insurance program, while establishing processes worldwide to ensure these strategies are effectively carried out. The Senior Manager is critical to protecting the company’s physical and financial assets, overseeing complex claims, ensuring robust risk transfer and compliance across the multinational manufacturing and supply chain operations, all while leading and mentoring a team of one direct report.

 

Detailed Description

  • Lead global risk management and coverage strategy, ensuring identified risks are addressed via mitigation, self-insurance, alternative risk transfer, or external insurance placement
  • Lead and execute the annual global insurance renewal process across all required lines of coverage, including Global Property, Casualty, General Liability, Directors & Officers (D&O), Cyber Liability, Marine Cargo, and Product Liability.
  • Manage and validate the collection of global exposure information across multiple countries, and oversee the accurate allocation of premiums to various business units (SBUs).
  • Serve as the primary liaison for brokers, third-party administrators, and underwriters, driving negotiation of coverage terms, limits, and pricing to optimize cost and protection.
  • Act as the senior internal claims advocate for all major global incidents (Property, General Liability), directing third-party administrators and legal counsel to ensure maximum recovery and favorable resolution.
  • Advise internal Legal, Sales, and Procurement teams by reviewing commercial contracts to ensure compliance with insurance clauses, indemnity requirements, and risk transfer obligations.
  • Collaborate with Global Real Estate, Facilities, and Operations teams to drive and implement loss prevention programs aimed at pre-claim exposure mitigation.
  • Participate as the subject matter expert on Merger & Acquisition (M&A) due diligence activities and lead the subsequent insurance integration and exposure consolidation.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Insurance Analyst/Specialist, overseeing daily workflow and fostering technical development.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.).
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate risk management and/or commercial insurance brokerage, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership or management role at a large multinational company.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a quantitative field. Additionally, a specialization in insurance or risk management would be an asset.
  • Professional risk management designation is highly preferred.
