Summary
This position is a Tax Senior Manager role at Celestica’s global headquarters in Toronto. In addition to income tax, transfer pricing, and indirect tax compliance and provision responsibilities, work will also include being involved in global tax matters of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of business and taxation aspects on a multi-national or global basis. Incumbents are accountable for delivering high quality work to ensure site’s / major function’s operations, schedules, and performance goals are met.
The Global Taxation group is transitioning to a model where each member of the team would be responsible for all tax matters of a group of subsidiaries. An elaborate model has been developed for team members to follow. We also facilitate in the development of foreign tax and all areas of taxation, as well as the underlying relevant accounting principles that drive tax results. Senior management will mentor team members in the development of the skill of asking the right questions when solving problems.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Manages a team that provides support for tax planning and M&A initiatives.
- Manages worldwide tax compliance (including review of tax returns)
- Review of quarterly/annual tax provision, and other tax reporting requirements (e.g. consolidation, note disclosures, memos, etc).
- Research and interpret changing tax legislation and related income tax regulations, rules and case law, identify tax issues and opportunities for tax minimization and advise on their implications.
- Understand changes to financial reporting standards and analyze the impact for tax filings purposes.
- Manages transfer pricing risk and compliance, including review of complex cross-border transactions and transfer pricing documentation.
- Manage communications and audits with internal/external/government auditors.
- Respond to internal tax related queries from other cross functional areas and/or senior management.
- Continuously improve efficiencies related to tax processes.
- Develop and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Accounting designation or MBA preferred
- CPA designation with completion of CPA In-Depth I & II, or Master of Taxation
- Educational requirements may vary by geography.
Typical Experience
- 7-8 plus years of relevant experience with a major accounting firm or multinational organization
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a hybrid office environment (2 days in the office, rest of the week remote)
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
- Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
