About this opportunity:

This Global Engineering Intern will support our global ATS Engineering Services teams, which design and develop products and tests solutions for our internal and external customers. The Engineering Tool Intern will help the global team with support & admin of various Engineering S/W tools, including:

 

  • Product Data Management (PDM)
  • Project Portfolio Management (PPM)
  • Electrical Design S/W (ECAD, Electronic Computer-Aided Design)
  • Mechanical Design S/W (MCAD, Mechanical Computer-Aided Design)
  • Requirements Management 
  • Issue Tracking

 

The Intern will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment in a highly motivated team. We are looking for a team player who is able to learn quickly, is self-motivated, and has excellent analytical abilities. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to several key enabling functions in the Global Engineering Services Organization, including, Tool Development Projects, Tools enabling Project Management of Engineering Projects, and Business Intelligence & Data Analytics. Students who excel in this position enjoy creating/fixing processes and tools to support global Engineering Teams (Design of Hardware, Software, Test and other Solutions) and create/maintain systems and tools for the ATS Engineering Services team that are needed to drive our services business, tools and analytics/reporting.

  • Strong understanding of Excel/Google Sheets
  • Excellent analytical, technical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage time, be organized, and work with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented and striving for perfection; quality mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding time frames with attention to detail
  • Able to work cross-functionally with diverse teams on various topics
  • Knowledge of and ability to work within a global corporate environment is required. Highly collaborative
  • Excellent documentation skills including proofreading to ensure accuracy of content
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (listening, written, and verbal)
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong self-motivation.

 

Activities:

  • Assist in Setup, configure, admin of new Product Data Management (PDM/PLM) tools to manage eCAD, mCAD, SW for all Global Design & Test teams
  • Work with Global Design & Test teams in North America, Europe & Asia to facilitate rollout, training and adoption of PDM tool
  • Participate in various IT/Engineering tool projects as required.
  • Support & Administration of a Project Portfolio Management system
  • Support & Administration of a Requirements Management system
  • Support & Administration of an Issue Tracking system
  • Potential to perform business intelligence & data analytics depending on business needs, availability & applicant’s capabilities.
  • Potential additional responsibilities include but not limited to: Engineering Process development, Project Management systems, management of Engineering Tools.   
  • Potential to expand into support of Global Engineering initiatives - Engineering Training/Learning, Design Quality/Product Assurance, and more.
  • This team drives change initiatives across the network that may require support and provides opportunities for candidates to take on new responsibilities as determined by business needs and applicant’s capabilities.

Physical Demands, duties of this position are varied and will include:

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
