About this opportunity:

The Operations Engineering Intern will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment in a highly motivated team. The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in an Engineering or Computer Science program and have completed their 3rd year. We are looking for a team player who is able to learn quickly, is self-motivated, has excellent analytical abilities and is comfortable supporting projects for deployment in manufacturing environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to several key enabling functions in the Operations Engineering organization including Project Management, Project Execution & Performance Monitoring, Operating Model Design, Technology Innovation.

Activities:

• Architecting and developing software, data pipeline and automation tools to address business needs.
• Being able to analyze a problem, devise solutions, and implement those solutions using code.
• Ability to create dashboards for data visualization, managing cloud projects, DevOps environment, automation scripts, etc.
• Data analytics of rich data sets streaming from multiple factories in multi-national organization
• Interpretation of data from operations for monthly executive reviews
• Modeling performance of equipment using different data sources
• Work in a cross functional team with engineering and IT
• Work on technical projects, around production equipment connectivity
• Project manage deployment of tools and processes into manufacturing operations
• Create requirements documents, procedures, technical reports and training guides
• Work with Google Workspace Tools and develop custom scripts using Apps Script (JavaScript), and some HTML/CSS
• Attendance and discussion at weekly department meetings
• Create and present monthly project reviews for global operations (reporting)

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in web development tools (Mainly JavaScript, Some HTML and CSS)
• Proficiency in Office productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office)
• Programming Fundamentals: Solid proficiency in Python (object-oriented programming, data structures, clean code practices) and foundational web development skills (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST API concepts)
• CS & Math concepts: Understanding of standard algorithms, basic relational database queries (SQL), and comfort with spatial / matrix math concepts
• Data Processing & Scripting: Experience gathering, cleaning, and transforming structured data (e.g., JSON, CSVs, database tables) using Python libraries and other tools
• Cloud Platform Exposure: Practical exposure to cloud platform like Google Cloud Platforms (GCP) for resource management, VM operations, or basic experience running applications inside lightweight containers (e.g., Docker)
• General Tooling & OS: Working Familiarity with Git, Linux/Windows environments, and basic cloud or automation environments (Google Workspace, GCP, Azure DevOps, or Apps Script)
• Problem-Solving & Debugging: Ability to evaluate existing code, isolate bugs, read technical documentation, and translate business needs into clean solutions
• Comfortable asking targeted questions, picking up new tools and tools independently, and willingness to learn new paradigms
• Ability to gain a working understanding of manufacturing processes, shop-floor metrics, and basic business workflows.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across both office and manufacturing facility environments.
• Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet project deadlines, and utilize standard productivity software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).
• Basic exposure to image processing, machine learning, or deep learning libraries (e.g., OpenCV, PyTorch)
• Familiarity with Docker containerization, asynchronous messaging, or operations research/optimization concepts
• Exposure to web frameworks like FastAPI or real-time data streaming (WebSockets)
• Ability to gather, clean, process, and combine data from different sources (ETL Pipelines)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in both an office and a manufacturing environment
• Ability to gain a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and metrics
• Time management and ability to prioritize tasks according to deadlines

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office with exposure to manufacturing environments.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
• Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc).
• Basic manufacturing system knowledge.

Salary

The range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.

The hourly wage is determined by the years of study completed and is non-negotiable as per company policy.

Hourly Wage: $23-30 CAD/hr
