Overview
As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you are an Industrial Engineer with experience in optimizing manufacturing layouts, streamlining material floor, incorporate and mixing automation equipment (including robotics, mobile robots, etc.) with manual processes. You also bring experience for storage and warehouse solutions, capacity and storage calculations, etc. You can provide design solution concepts that can resolve complex manufacturing problems. You can develop detailed simulation environments and test scenarios of Assembly and Material Process flows both at a design stage or in order to optimize existing or future processes. With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to create the requirements and specifications in order to build world-class facilities. In this role, you will report to the Senior Director of Automation Engineering.
This position is based in Richardson/Dallas Area and will support US sites.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Create facility layouts in 2D and 3D with the use of design tools
- Conceptualize Automated/Semi-automated/manual material flow processes for different environments (Warehouse, Production Line, etc).
- Create detailed Simulation of Assembly Process Flows and material flow to analyze bottle necks, traffic congestions, process improvements, etc.
- Conduct time studies and data collection to perform line balancing to improve processes.
- Run and Evaluate Test Scenarios of Process Flows
- Utilize AI to optimize Process Flows for Assembly and Material areas within Simulated Environment
- Apply lean concepts as part of the methodology for line configuration solutions.
- Responsible for communicating progress on project
- Formalize and update drawing documentation
- Support automation projects in all phases of the Project Life Cycle.
- Collaborate with various automation peers to deliver innovative solutions to customers.
- Be knowledgeable of automation, simulation, emulation of market trends for different technologies.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Layout design in 2D and 3D.

Experience with Line balancing/cycle time analysis/ Scenario Testing.

Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills at different levels of the company

Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures

Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.

Strong communicator.

Knowledge of drafting principles using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (or similar)

Able to work in a fast-changing dynamic environments

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

Project Management Experience
Nice Have
- Experience with line/plant simulation tools like Emulate3D.
- Experience with robotic simulation systems.
- Knowledge of Layout, Tooling/Fixturing, Demand Flow, Cell Concept and Lean Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Financial Terms and Calculations (ROI, Payback, etc.)
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- Minimum 3 years as a designer in industrial / automation field.
- Basic knowledge of electronics manufacturing is a plus.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D Cad tools is a plus.
- Basic Knowledge of Emulate3D or similar Simulation tools and techniques such as; Line Optimization, Scenario
- Testing, and Simulation Environment Creation considered an asset are a plus.
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
